I'm in the same boat with the 18% increase. Just spoke to two people at Sky's disconnections departement who've said there's nothing they can do for me, not even offered to keep it at the same price for a period, they just said everyones putting prices up and if you can find it cheaper elsewhere, off you go. Landline rental really grinds my teeth as I don't use it, it's just for the broadband.
The increase will mean £14.50 for the line rental plus £7.50 for the broadband (£22), now I'm not sure what to do.... There are a couple of options that look appealling - Virgin have fibre BB for £22.50pm (30MB with unlimited downloads) or there is Orange £13.50 for the landline and £5 for the broadband (£18.50, 10MB speed where I live and unlimited downloads) - with Orange though you can get £100 cashback meaning over the year it's £222 - £100 =£ 122 for the year. I don't know a lot about Orange as a broadband supplier though....
What's everyone else doing?
If I were you, I'd take Virgin over Orange any day of the week.
I'm sticking with sky because of the massive 12 month discount they gave me.0 -
I've just phoned up to pay for 12 months line rental up front. Took a while for the customer services person to find the option and they had to ask someone, but it's now gone through. Saved a few £££ for the next year.

They may have been ordered together, but they are separate contracts.
They advertise it as a package. Therefore I purchased said package.
That package no longer applies due to previously mentioned price rise allowing cancellation.
Furthermore, if I cancel the phone line, the said box, which (according to sky's terms & conditions) "must be connected to a fixed telephone line for 12 months." will no longer meet those conditions & thus the original contract ceases to exist.
Oh, hello Tivo...Fog on The Tyne isn't mine all mine... but if I wanted it, I'd want it with a discount code.0 -
Not so. A mobile phone contract is a package (airtime and handset), but still two separate contracts. Read the T&C's.No free lunch, and no free laptop0
