every process is listed in top bar, and as each process is highlighted, every file opened by them is listed in bottom!!

Your query suggests (still very vague) a piece of software is locking a file or a series of files open, preventing deletion, if that is correct, it shouldn't be happening. The only files locked should be ones in use by windows and whatever else is running at the time.!!
