I read that post as only applying if the files are read-only. Are you saying it works when that attribute is unchecked?Bob_the_Saver wrote: »I have this problem and use the solution in post #80 -

I've never looked, all I know is I can't normally delete them but with unlocker I can.0 -
OK I'll try that if the safe mode doesn't work.
BTW what is your signature supposed to mean?0 -

Ryanair hand baggage maximum size, I usually post on the Overseas travel board and despite being told numerous times so many people still push their luck and then moan when it costs them extra.0 -

No; the read only attribute is unrelated to the "lock" that the OS places on files to indicate that they're in use...0 -
The same issue is well known with .mkv video files too, can't delete, can't rename etc.
Unlocker as above is the best solution, adds a right click option, select file, right click pick unlocker, select delete from dropdown menu and OK. Unlocker disconnects the file and deletes it. Often if you just unlock and try to delete in explorer its explorer causing the problem so its locked again before you can delete. I found you need to use the delete in unlocker.0 -
Safe mode didn't work, but the unlocker does. So, could this cause problems if I delete something that has just been moved or played?
I see. That's why I took my solar PV spec off, due to irrelevance on sister boards. Mind you, at least I stated it was to do with solar PV.....Bob_the_Saver wrote: »Ryanair hand baggage maximum size, I usually post on the Overseas travel board....

Get jobs in offices and wake up for the morning commute?0 -
if you have to use unlocker, something is holding the file open, possibly whatever you are using to play it, it shouldn't be locked after a boot. http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb896653!!

I'm not using anything to play it when trying to delete, but Real Player has played it before.if you have to use unlocker, something is holding the file open, possibly whatever you are using to play it, it shouldn't be locked after a boot. http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb896653
OK I've clicked on the zip folder in Firefox downloads and it just displayed the 3 files. I clicked on the .exe file and extracted , but there is no window prompting me to install.0
