Ultra high spec laptop needed

Have a friend who is after a high spec laptop. He is doing a masters in Engineering and needs a laptop to perform complex calculations.
The spec he wants is that it must have at least 8 gig memory, a high spec graphic card and a large memory.
We had a quick look at what is available and he is not afraid to spend up to £1000.
Can anyone suggest any websites that cater for high spec laptops?
Personally i recommend a desktop PC but he wants portability.

Problem with having access to internet is that i get asked by many to solve their problems

Try Eurocom, they may be above budget but you can spec out exactly what you want with them.

You have mentioned memory twice but I presume you wanted a large screen size.
With his budget he should have no problem finding one. You could check out the Dell website

Drop a brand challenge
on a £100 shop you might on average get 70 items save
10p per product = £7 a week ~ £28 a month
20p per product = £14 a week ~ £56 a month

Err, no. He wants one with lots of RAM and a graphics card supported by CAD software which usually means nVidia Quadro or AMD FirePro. A good 3D gaming card doesn't necessarily mean a good one for doing CAD. Ones that are good for CAD will have drivers available for specific software packages such as 3D Studio Max which you install into the software as well, not just Windows.
Start looking at Dell Precision range.

as said quadro gpu will be required for top spec which puts you into some decent money - the above dell's are a start and also I think hp elitebooks(?) might have some quadro/firepro options

£1000 budget - I can't call it ultra high spec. Those with ultra high spec would usually cost £2000 - 30000

where did it say anything about CAD??

Not sure that is right. if you look at GPU support list for autocad, there are quite a few gaming card. I am not saying gaming card better than workstation card, but workstation card are usually be more expensive0 -
