Replacing Water Pipe to House

Hi All

I wish to replace the current water pipe from the street stopcock to my property to the new 32mm "blue" pipes in order to improve the flow rate (at the moment - if someone turns on the tap whilst I'm having a shower - the rate pretty much slows to a trickle).

I'm told there is a way to do this without having to dig up the entire driveway ("impact moling"?).

Has anyone ever had this kind of work done?
Did it make an impact to the flow rate?
Could you recommend any good companies (London area)??

Sorry for the questions - I've tried googling answers but with minimal luck!!

Thanks in advance!

If you are in Thames Water Area, and the pipe you want to replace is lead, they may do it FREE !

They also do a subsidised leak repair or pipe replacement, if you have a leak, i.e. not just if you expect to get better shower flow rate.

Other W. Cos may have similar policies.

I had a firm replace my water supply pipe using pneumatic impact moling. It worked well.

OP since you raised two threads on the subject in different locations you might have missed my reply on the other board. So I'll try again here.

It may not be your supply pipe thats the problem! What pressure is your water supplier delivering to your property? If its low then changing the pipe won't make a ha'porth of difference.

Also please describe your DHW configuration including boiler make/model. The other possibility is that the solution lies internally to your property and again, changing the supply pipe won't do a thing.

    Cheers

They will only replace the pipe that belongs to them ...... not the pipe on private land.

ok ... so am i right ... you are going from a common supply pipe ... too a sole supply pipe ? .... your water company will fit a pipe direct from the mains too your property boundary (sometimes plz check ) for free; the rest of the work is yours ; before the water company will connect your supply too the mains supply , a client liason officer will come out too your property ( appointment needed ) and check that your new pipe meets the requirements needed ( right depth right sized pipe) then another date is fixed for connection ; until then dont disconnect for the common supply pipe ; care needs too be taken when you disconnect from a common supply pipe too make sure you dont disconnect any other properties !
