There's apparently a milliionaire in the Glasgow area who parks his car anywherere he likes near Central Station. His car, particularly the wheels, is too big for clamping or towing.
He pays al his fines and regards it as his parking fees. The council did try to buy in a giant tow truck to deal with him, but were crtiticesd for throwing public money away.
He's deffo not regarded as a hero. One choice comment in the local paper was that "you can put a pig in a suit but you can't stop it grunting":DThere is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0 -

Other half back from Oz. Claimed he wouldn't suffer jetlag as he'd slept comfortably most of the way back. He woke up noisily at 4.30am and is now fast asleep on the sofa!:mad:I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. A router is right up there with water and electricity in the "worst things that can go wrong in the house" list.
Always keep a spare
Won't plugging the ethernet cable straight into the laptop do?
Anyway I followed some video on resetting and changed it from WEP to WAP. It often needs a restart when too many gizmos are logged onto it, but its never lost its security before.
Thinking of changing to sky or BT and both will give a new router so no point buying a new one now? Is a cable router the same as any other?
If we've only ever had cable broadband here, how easy is it to go elsewhere? Will the new company need to send an engineer?I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. One of the things I love least about London is the getting from A to B.
It's why I used to cycle everywhere in London. That's a 30 minute journey on a bike.0 -
I suggested to Miss Spirit today that we go to a Christmas market in Strasbourg. It sound pretty authentic and yet is in France rather than Germany. It would be my treat as she has been a super star this week.
Her response was, "only if we all go" . Meaning Mr S would need to come too. Her reason " I do not want to be responsible for you".
Tonight Mr S has arrived home, and she has officially handed me back to him.
To be fair she has taxied me to and from clinical settings, played ambulance and a couple of episodes of nursing and caring and rallied a neighbour to babysit me. She has done housework, dog walked, gone to work and found time to ride and get a piece of work in for her MA.
When it comes to feeling elderly at 52 I am not sure if I want to laugh or cry but I have really seen my daughter as a very capable adult this week.0 -

Your daughter sounds wonderful Spirit.
Strasbourg is a beautiful city and one I know pretty well as the company I used to work for had its European HQ there and I went often on business. There's lot to see and do and its flavour is neither French nor German, it's that curious fusion that is Alsace.
Can I please suggest that if you do go, you plan your visit for a time that the Parliament is not in setting? If you can, it will make hotels, restaurants and flights all easier and cheaper to book. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Thank Viva. Mr S has said it is too far for us to drive and he does not want to fly (he has many work flights between now and xmas) so he has suggested Amiens. Strasbourg sounded very pretty though, and we have never visted Alsace.0 -
Fair enough, it's not the easiest place to get to. The choice of flights is not great, the drive is long (only once and that was enough), though there is a Eurostar/TGV route that can be done. I think that's why not many Brits have been, its a PITA to get to but worth it.
Have fun in Amiens, it's a lot quicker to get to!Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing?
