Does it say anywhere that the DVLA has to do this each and every time? Reading the above it could be construed that once , for aa parking company, would suffice.

    That's a red herring.

As far as the DVLA is concerned they had to do it only once, for the entire AOS, but nonetheless on each individual occasion that they sell data without "resaonable cause" they are in breach of the DPA.

Whether they went about checking "reasonable cause" request-by-request or by giving a blanket authorisation to the entire AOS is irrelevant, they've still broken the DPA. And selling personal information which is to be used to levy legally-unenforceable charges is a breach of the DPA, 'cos there's no "reasonable cause".

  • so does all this same apply to a PCN issued by ANPR today please?

    Is the company ANPR Ltd?

ANPR is actually a generic term for camera number plate recognition but there is a specific company called ANPR Ltd.

In which case, yes, you can apply the advice already given in this thread.

  • Can I just say, I love this forum!! But also does anyone, park where there is a parking owned by a private company in Hospitals etc (pay and display or permit display, not council or police monitored) actively simply just not pay all of the time? Sorry if that sounds backwards?

    We love this forum too!

But no, we do not do that nor condone that. To do so would be to perpertuate the myth that PPCs are needed, could cause more harm than good to the overall aim here which is to get PPCs kicked out of car parks.

    :)
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
