I want a Sky+ box

Hi,
I want to change my sky box for a sky+ box, to have the record facility. There only seems to be sky+ with HD upgrade on the sky website, which I can do without. Is it better to go through sky to upgrade or is there another option?
Thank you for any help.

All the boxes Sky supply are now HD, whether you have an HD sub or not. Why not just get one for peanuts on eBay, or free on freegle?

I got a free box off a mate who had upgraded to the new Sky+HD box.

Otherwise try Ebay. Unless you take the HD package at £10.50 per month, Sky will charge you to upgrade your box.

I gave away a couple of Sky+ boxes on freegle last week - I am sure that there will be others being offered at any point in time.

Being able to use Sky+ planning & recording requires a subscription.

I think it's implied that the OP already has a Sky sub-but a very old digibox.
OP, if this is the case and you don't already have a twin feed from the LNB, you will not be able to record one channel while watching another. To do that will require an additional feed.

All you have to do is call them and they activate it.

That's only true if you already pay a subscription for a channel package of some sort.
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.

Indeed. But nowhere has the OP stated they are cancelling their Sky subscription.

Thank you all for the replies.
I do subscribe to Sky but I want to change my basic box for the previously mentioned.
May I please ask, what is freegle?

OK, I have just googled it, same as the old free cycle?
