I agree totally with other posters. What on earth did you think that any airline staff at an airport would do other than log a query?

As jpsarte has commented above, I do feel that your wife's (and your) expectations were incredibly unrealistic. The good news is that you should both be totally prepared should a similar situation arise in the future.

JPSartre is a tiresome troll who jumps at the throat of anyone who dares attack the budget airlines. He/she tries to come over all official and knowledgeable, but you should see them furiously backpedal and grovel when someone like a lawyer puts the little weasel in their place.

Despite the lack of helpful comments, PaulJM, and the deluge of posts aiming to shut you up, know that your comment has been noted and made it to the WOW section.

Interesting! So anyone who disagrees with an OP is a troll then? *rolls eyes*

Perhaps you could share your thoughts with us re: exactly what you think the airline staff should have done in this situation then?

As I read the situation the OP said the staff at the helpdesk were "extraordinarily unhelpful" - possibly a degree of assistance may have been beneficial to both the traveller and the future liklihood of the traveller using the airline in the future.

The OP goes onto say that there was "awful customer service...." obviously this is his secondhand take on the matter however in my line of business customer relations are tantamount to obtaining repeat business whereas with some of the airline routes offering little or no alternatives the airlines do not feel the need to, in some cases, offer any sympathy, help or advise other than blunt responses.

I doubt any airline would help in this situation tbf.

As others have said I always travel with a change of clothes and a couple of toileties in my bag in case hold luggage goes missing.

Belfast city is a train journey away from the city center it's not that difficult.

Why should you expect better service from a budget airline. Pay peanuts get monkeys.

No train service connects Belfast city airport to anywhere!!!

Hello all, suggestions and recommendations requested!

My wife travelled from Manchester to Belfast city airport for a business meeting yesterday, with Easyjet.
When she got there, waited and waited for her luggage from the hold (staying a few days), and it didn't turn up.
She then went to the helpdesk, who were extraordinarily unhelpful, said all they could do was log a case (irony?), and she'd have to trace it via the internet. After a bit of complaining, there were no further avenues to chase, so a woman on her own, in an unfamiliar city, was left with nothing else to do but wait and hope.
When she asked if they could help her buy the essentials, they said there would be no recompense until 24 hours was up of them losing the stuff. No further help followed from the airport or EasyJet.

Luckily though, it's Belfast, and the people are amazing, and you can leave with more than you went with! if it was another city, she'd probably not have received much sympathy!
A taxi driver asked her what was wrong, phoned his wife, took her (no further charge) to a Tesco, and she got some basics. Good man.
The EasyJet website now says "Possibly found, identifying"
I reckon that's a right load of rubbish - if nothing else, awful customer service....

Lovely to hear that said of Belfast folks - thank you - it is so true and yet we get such bad press. The majority of the people living in Belfast are the most decent you could imagine:T:T

No train service connects Belfast city airport to anywhere!!!

So why does it have these instructions on the Belfast City Airport site??

"A shuttle bus service operates between the airport terminal and the adjacent rail halt at Sydenham. Please go to the information desk and ask for the service. You'll be instructed to wait by the taxi rank where the shuttle bus will collect you.

Translink operates a rail service (0600-2300) Monday-Saturday to Central and Victoria Street Stations every 20 minutes. The service is hourly on Sundays (0900-2200).

Connections are available from Central Station to the rest of the rail network in Northern Ireland and the Irish Republic.

Download the NI Railways Service 1 timetable

    Fares can be seen here

For further information please visit the NI Railways webpage"

Also there is this >> http://www.translink.co.uk/en/Services/NI-Railways/Routes--Timetables/All-Timetables/Northern-Ireland-Railways-Service-1-Inbound/

I know it's not the airport directly but it wouldn't have been hard to suss out

    NOTE ABOVE STATES
"A shuttle bus service operates between the airport terminal and the adjacent rail halt at Sydenham"

The Sydenham train station is not at the city airport but 0.6 miles away.
