Well so far the poll is showing a pretty even spread between Office and Telephone interviews. Doesn't seem to confirm the posts, though, which seem to be more in favour of the telephone interview.
    Thanks for voting.
I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. I have made MANY mistakes and have OFTEN been the unwitting victim of the the shamefull tactics of the Financial Industry.
If any of my experiences, or the knowledge that I have gained from those experiences, can help anyone who finds themselves in similar circumstances, then my experiences have not been in vain.

    Hi Rog,

I'm fairly certain that the criteria for deciding whether an interview is conducted by phone or in the office is whether the bankrupt has any sizeable assets to take into account; usually a house. If the bkt is in rented accomodation and no complicating factors emerge such as a business, then the interview is conducted over the phone and if nothing appears suspicious then the procedure moves quite quickly to an early discharge.

If there is a house involved the O.R wants to be certain of all the relevant details and because it can't generally be resolved within a year then a trustee is appointed. This seems to fit with most people's details that post on this forum, and certainly reflects our experience that seemed quite straightforward initially and early discharge was on the cards. The situation changed involving our house and early discharge has been suspended.

    Regards

    Rich
  • If that's the way it works, I for one will be very pleased, as I have no assets or business to be sorted out. I always get very worked up over being interviewed about anything official. I really don't want to have to go to the OR's offices again if it can be avoided, though some people have told me you're better off going there because the interview can be held on a more personal level. :(
