Being made redundant-how do i

Hiya, my husband lost his job this week - on Monday, he wasn't made redundant, he gave it up after working there for two days as the place was a real cowboy outfit!!! Hubby has always been in work and wasn't sure what to do so we phoned Job Centre Direct on Tuesday morning and they told us that Hubby would be able to claim Job Seekers allowance. ( I don't work). Hubby gave them some details over the phone and they said they would ring us back on Tuesday morning to take some more details. They rang us back at 8.30 on wednesday morning with an appointment to speak to some one at our local job centre that day. The appointment was basically to check all the details that were given the day before, give his signature, so that the forms could be processed. In the end, I ended up claiming income support for both of us as I claim carers allowance as our daughter is disabled. We filled in the housing benefit and coucnil tax benefit form at the same time and dropped them off at the housing office with our proof of ID etc. I asked how long it would take for the forms to br processed and the lady there told me that they wouldn't be able to process them until they had recieved proof of our Income support. I was pleasantly surprised at how quick things have worked for us. I received my first income support payment in the post this saturday, four days after filling in the forms!!! Now I have a letter stating my entitlement to income support I now need to take this to the housing office, for them to photocopy it and put it with our HB and CTB claim form. I have been told that once this has been done, it will take two weeks for the claims to be processed. HTH with the HB, CTB side if things anyway. I'm not sure how long it takes for JSA claims to go through.
