Laptop to TV Connector.

Options
Hi All,

Just wandering if there is a lengendary tech genius that might be able to help me.

Basically I am trying to link my laptop up to my computer so I can do presentations and watch films ect.

I have a brand new Laptop - Toshiba abd a failry new TV 3-4 years old flat screen which has the following ports: -

- AV X3
- HDM X 2
- RGB

I have already bought a VGA to HDMI Adapter Cable For Laptop PC TV.

I have tried every way to connect the lead but I have had no luck just a blank screen.

Do I need to adjust laptop settings.

If any one can help me that would be fantastic.

Cheers

  • Have you tried pressing the button that switches between the laptop screen and the remote screen? On mine it is F7, but on your it may well be something different, may well have a small picture of an lcd screen and another screen on it.

If your laptop is brand new, does it have an HDMI socket?

With mine I simply use an HDMI lead between the two, but I did have to adjust the sound settings.
What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare

VGA to HDMI adapter cable? How can that possibly work. VGA is analogue HDMI is digital.

As above HDMI to HDMI is the way to go assuming the laptop has an HDMI or DVI connector.
That gum you like is coming back in style.

I assume you mean laptop to your monitor (not your pc).

If you have HDMI out on your laptop, connect the two.
Go into control panel if you have Win 7, look for Appearance and Personaliasztion and click Connect to an external display.

You should be able to set it from there.

Older Op systems, then right click desktop and look in display options.

    Any questions just ask.

Even with the Lead that I bought will it work??

You. Cannot connect an HDMI output to a VGA input without a digital to analog converter.

lol this is getting very confusing!!!

Which TYPE of connection cable would I need.

Surely its just a case of connecting the Laptop up to the TV with the correct wires!!!

Simialr to hooking UP a PS3??!!

Your cable is likely to be HDMI to DVI.

But as other poster said, could you google same cable and post the link so we can see it.
