Talk Talk - Stopped calls through 1899, etc?

Have just tried to use 1899 and 18185 to make a call this morning. Got number unobtainable tone. I think Talk Talk were planning to stop customers being able to use these providers to get cheaper calls to 08** numbers. Does anyone know if this has actually happened, or am I experiencing a different problem?

I don't see that the single post you've linked to (not actually the entire thread) answers NewToThis's precise question. All Martin's post says is that eventually TalkTalk will ban the use of 1899 and similar, not when it will happen or that it has actually happened.

Agreed, I don't use TalkTalk and don't intend to read the whole thread myself!

More info on Indirect Access Call Barring (IACB) here.

Have you tried using their respective 0808 freephone access numbers instead of the short codes.

1899 and 18185 etc have different access numbers you can use from cable or mobile but they do normally work from landlines.

    See:

The only problem is the rates are different.;)
