I wouldn't but my partner is disabled and can't cope with the cold.

Thanks, is it the RT500 as I have just found the installation guide for it?

Yes and they do save money because you can set the ideal temperatures to 0.5 degree accuracy for different times of the day and different days of the week i.e. weekends if necessary.

Thanks again. So is it best to ask an electrician or a heating engineer?

It really is a five minute job to fit as a direct replacement. If you can't DIY or don't have someone who could help you, then an electrician is required not a heating eng.

Thanks. As well as the display problems you mentioned with the Honeywell stats, people have also been complaining about the cycle rates on the Honeywells. Does the RT500 have cycle rates or does it work like a normal manual stat?

    Thanks

No the RT500 does not cycle the boiler every so often, just operates as a programmable stat. and does exactly what is stated in the instructions. The one I fitted in my house four years ago is still using the original battery and no low battery icon is showing on the display.

Thanks again. One last question, if you don't mind. If for some reason the RT500 fails there is nothing to stop me putting my old manual stat back is there?

No, the old stat. could be fitted again but you really wouldn't want to after using the programmable one.
