which order to cancel phone and broadband

I currently have my landline with BT, and my broadband and phone with virgin media,
I am thinking of cancelling virgin and going with BT for phone and landline, and xilo for my broadband, what would be the best way to go about this? so that I dont have to be too long without phone or broadband.
the reason for cancelling is that virgin are putting up the price again
thanks in advance

Get a MAC from Virgin to transfer your broadband. When you use the MAC this (should) automatically cancel the broadband account, but it also makes sense to advise them when requesting the MAC that it is with the intention to cancel the account.
For calls, simply take out a landline/calls package with BT and they'll automatically notify Virgin and take over control. Makes sense (again) to notify Virgin of your intent.
So, do broadband first. If this also cancels the calls package and you go on to standard pricing then you'll still have a working phone but only pay a little more for calls until the new calls package is in effect.0 -
If you are with Virgin cable then you can keep this as long as you wish. The BT services are completely separate. That gum you like is coming back in style.0

Why have you got both VM cable and BT-seems rather illogical?
As above, there is no overlap, so you can give VM 30 days notice and then place your BT order, which typically will take 3-4 weeks. or order BT and once you have your connection date, give notice to VM.
A MAC is not required for a cable to ADSL transfer. No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
Sorry I didnt say that it was all via the telephone line. We dont have cable in the area0

So you have line rental with BT, calls and broadband with VM. A bit odd, since BT line rental includes a minimum calls package?
However, since this is an ADSL to ADSL transfer, a MAC will be required, give notice to VM once BT confirm your switch date.No free lunch, and no free laptop0
