What it "suggests" to you is irrelevent.

Of course it is, they need to tell me how I can pay them, otherwise how will I know? This brings me back to the wording in the documentation: 'Complete the payment slip'.
Why didn't you call them when your statement didn't show up?

I was placed in a queue which was taking too long, therefore, I e-mailed them.

Arguing the toss with me is going to get you nowhere. So you admit that you knew your payment wasn't going to happen on time and you did next to nothing to recitfy it. And now you're surprised they've charged you?

Oh no, payment would have happened on time if only I had received the statement on time which is always accompanied by the payment slip. I assumed that the slip would have arrived like it normally does.

I sent a e-mail informing them of the issue.

I'm surprised that they won't remove the charge, as I know my argument is completely valid. Whether they remove the charge or not, I won't pay :P

It's your credit report to ruin. For the sake of £12, a default isn't worth it.

  • what the other people are telling you is that you can use any banks paying in slip from the banks counter and not just wait for the statement to come from the cc, hope this clarifies things for you

I be very careful doing this generally for paying bills. I assume the poster below has confirmed that this will work for this company with their current bank (because the bank will forward over the reference correctly) but not all company accounts will accept payments over the counter and not all banks will allow you to quote a reference with a counter payment.
Indecision is the key to flexibility :)
