If anyone is thinking of buying one of the infinity scarves that are in fashion this autumn...don't...its so easy to make your own. Just cut the bottom of a stretchy old top or dress or even a tshirt. Cut it as wide as you want it to be and stretch it out a bit, it should loop twice around your neck with a twist. They look great and are so warm...for free!“The superior man, when resting in safety, does not forget that danger may come. I was sorting out my winter clothes at the weekend and packing away the summer stuff:(.
I discovered 2 Betty Jackson knitted tunic tops with 3/4 length sleeves that I had totally forgotten about, don't think I have worn them for a couple of years. One is a camel/biegey colour and the other is fushia pink.
I am wearing the beige one today with black leggings, a black 'cobwebby' scarf (I mean the type of knit - not that it has come straight out of the loft!! LOL!) and some lovely Faith beige suede, wedgey ankle boots, feeling quite trendy!
In fact one of my clients' commented yesterday that I had started dressing more trendily lately!! This thread must be working.
Oh and Pipney, I love your jumper, wish I had the patience to knit like that, even if I tried to make socks they would probably stay as toe warmers LOL!

Hiya
I've posted this website before but it's great!
http://www.puttingmetogether.com/p/building-remixable-wardrobe-series.html
I've just overhauled my wardrobe and finally got it to the stage that 85% of my wardrobe mixes and matches.
Personally I think it's the shoes and accessorizing that makes an outfit
BTW bootiful shoes
That's a VERY interesting website. Very instructive. Thank you so much for posting the link."Be the type of woman that when you get out of bed in the morning, the devil says 'Oh crap. She's up.'

I loved the sites you have given links for..I have just discovered Pinterset and I love the wardrobe capsule pics...they are great and have given me some fantastic ideas on combining my own things.
I don't feel well today, full of cold and coughing...so wearing black leggings, ballet shoes, a black top with sleeves and multi coloured leaves on, and a long string of freshwater pearls and blue beads. My hair is up in a blue/green clip.“The superior man, when resting in safety, does not forget that danger may come. Get well soon 2Tonsils.
Today I am wearing my khaki cord, John Rocha skirt, khaki heeled boots and a cream top with a cream wrap over cardigan. Working a double shift so need to be comfortable and able to adjust my layers!!!
Will try and check out the website over the weekend.

321 that sounds like a really nice outfit...I can identify with you going for comfy..I go the same way unless I am dressing up to go somewhere special for the evening. I really wish I had gone out in my sleeveless thin top instead of the sleeves as it was very hot in town this morning.
I went food shopping this morning and stocked up, but also managed to get a thin long multi coloured striped scarf to wear with loads of my outfits and a long sleeved plain top in Navy for the winter. They were only 2 euros each so very pleased with them. I got a purple long sleeved top last week for 2 euros at the same shop. I really liked the scarf and it will finish off a lot of my outfits. Lots of autumn colours in the stripes and a nice bright pink and purple as well.
Today I have on a long sleeved top with a small geometric pattern in grey, brown and pale blue, light purple dance trousers in cotton and a pair of purple striped cheeky monkey slippers lol...that my sister bought me. My top is quite low cut so have a silver necklace on to distract the eye lol. My hair is tied back with a blue and green ribbon.
Thanks for your good wishes, I feel better than I did yesterday, so on the mend alreadyxxx“The superior man, when resting in safety, does not forget that danger may come. When in a state of security he does not forget the possibility of ruin.” Confucius (551 BC - 479 BC):A0 -
Going to have a go at uploading some of my photos of me in my favourite outfits. I might be some time lol..“The superior man, when resting in safety, does not forget that danger may come. When in a state of security he does not forget the possibility of ruin.” Confucius (551 BC - 479 BC):A0

Here is a link to a few of my outfits. Most days I wear a top or layers with stretch trousers as I need to be comfy and they are practical to wear on my scooter. I spend a lot of time at the gym. If I go out I wear them with heels or boots, if its in the day I wear shoes or toning trainers. I only wear a skirt to go out in at night usually, except the odd time I will wear one with boots in the winter during the day.
Just some background..I am 57 years old, and I am five feet four and a half tall and I take a size 12 in British sizes. I am muscular as I bodybuild and I think I am an hour glass shape although I don't carry much fat at all on my legs...they are the slimmest part of my body. I have problems getting jackets big enough for my arms and shoulders, unless they have lots of stretch in them.
Hope you like the pics...“The superior man, when resting in safety, does not forget that danger may come. When in a state of security he does not forget the possibility of ruin.” Confucius (551 BC - 479 BC):A0 -
It would look good matching, but for a pop of colour you could add some mustard yellow or burnt orange socks...they would give a hint of autumn to the outfit. If you wanted to match up to them you could add a scarf to match the colour of the socks or a necklace. A long silky scarf would look good too.
That neckline is really nice!
Hmm.... No mustard or orange - I'm drawn to blues and greys. I will give the green socks a go, though.
Thank you (re the neckline). It's one of the things that drew me to the jumper.3_kids_2_jobs_1_dog wrote: »

Thank you. The pattern is Sun Ray Ribbing from Susan Crawford's and Jane Waller's A Stitch In Time, Knitting and Crochet Patterns 1920-1949 (Vol. 1). Here's a link to the Ravelry page for the pattern. I love vintage patterns and have volume 2 as well. (If you're interested in vintage patterns, there's a brilliant National Library of Australia site called Trove.)
The yarn is Colinette Jitterbug in their "leaf" shade.
All knitting is a combination of time and persistence. If you persist, things grow faster than you'd expect. A pair of ladies socks knitted in DK can be made in 8-10 hours. It took me about two months to knit this jumper and I'm lucky if I get to knit an hour a night. Almost all my knitting is TV knitting. Socks get knitted in those stolen moments that I get on train and bus rides or occasionally when I'm a passenger in a car. (On average I do two half-hour return train trips a month.) I'm rarely on a bus but, when I am, knitting a sock on 4 needles almost always guarantees that nobody wants to sit next to the crazy woman with those short pointy things bristling in her hands."Be the type of woman that when you get out of bed in the morning, the devil says 'Oh crap. She's up.'
