Sadly, I can't get the link to work. It may be that your Facebook settings don't allow strangers to view.

At the start of this year, one of my resolutions was to limit myself to buying 12-items-or-fewer of clothing during 2012 (excluding underwear, hosery, shoes or items that I've made myself). So far, I've bought a hat, a pair of jeans and two t-shirts.

I do alter my clothes to fit or change them a bit if I have had them for a long time. I found to my disgust that I can't dye things in my top loading washing machine! I used to love dyeing old clothes to make them look like new. I can't get the hand wash dyes here either. Never mind. I am thinking about doing some patches and applique on things to change them a bit for this winter.

Why can't you dye things in your top-loader? Is it because you can't get suitable dye? I'm positive Dylon* make dyes for top-loaders, because I dying clothes in my mum's top-loader when I was a teenager in Australia. Whether you can buy them in Europe, is a different question.

Do you have any tips on dying clothes? I've got a pink tracksuit that I use as slob-wear. It's seen far better days and I'm sick of the colour, so I'd like to dye it navy blue or black. (Also, if someone calls unexpectedly, pink looks like pajamas, whereas navy blue looks like exercise clothing.)

ETA * On second thoughts, it might be Rit dyes.

Sorry about the photo link not working, I had to go on another thread to ask how to do it. I will have another go:

    Yeah baby! Success at last...

Re the dyes, we can only get dylon washing machine ones here, I tried it in the top loader and it did not work. When I checked the website it said that it should not be used in them. I have been thinking about ordering some on Amazon and getting hand dyes delivered if they will send them.

As for dyeing your pink suit...check first that it is not a fibre mix as if they are it sometimes causes them to go patchy....I had one item that went into purple spots LOL...not a good look. It ended up as cleaning cloths. I like putting a mixed load of things to dye in and then you get lots of different shades. Its also worth putting in a cheap white cotton scarf so you get a matching scarf for your new item...or socks! I have even dyed a cotton bag to match my outfit in the past, it worked really well.

You have made me want to get dyeing now lol...a nice burnt orange colour would be lovely for some of my stuff.

At that price and quality I could not turn them down could I? They are a real departure from what I would normally buy to wear but I had been looking at style books on wearing bright shoes with winter clothes and I really liked the looks. I plan to wear them with my black short skirt and black trousers and coloured tops. They are really comfy as well so I won't have a problem going out and not being able to walk in them. My husband likes them..he said I did the right thing treating myself.

He loves it when I dress up smart to go out for the night.

The same shop (Italian/Greek owners) had a sale two years ago at the end of the winter and I got knee high boots with metallic heels for five euros a pair. One pair is black shiny patent leather which gathers around your calf, the other pair are grey with like a quilting pattern on the sides. I wore them all winter and they do not even need new heels. Fantastic quality. I love boots for everyday wear in the winter and they are practical here as the wet marble is really slippery.

I have a spare bedroom......and we live just 20 mins from the airport...but up in the mountains!

    Hiya

I've posted this website before but it's great!
    http://www.puttingmetogether.com/p/building-remixable-wardrobe-series.html

I've just overhauled my wardrobe and finally got it to the stage that 85% of my wardrobe mixes and matches.

Personally I think it's the shoes and accessorizing that makes an outfit :)

    BTW bootiful shoes

    Great shoes, 2Tonsils. Very dressy.

Board, I need your input/advice, please? This is what I'm wearing today (literally) with a pair of black loafers:

I have a matching pair of socks that I knitted out of the same yarn (I was knitting the socks when I thought: this stuff would be perfect for that jumper). My question is: do I wear the matching socks to work under my trousers when I wear this jumper?

Forgot to add: the socks can be seen, even when I'm standing up. (Loafers don't cover the top of my foot, just the toes).

That's the rule I follow with my son - his socks always match his top. Works for him. :D

It would look good matching, but for a pop of colour you could add some mustard yellow or burnt orange socks...they would give a hint of autumn to the outfit. If you wanted to match up to them you could add a scarf to match the colour of the socks or a necklace. A long silky scarf would look good too.

    That neckline is really nice!
