Then pm the op with details of how he can get this knocked up moggy shifted.
So it might be a lost pet ,so what .
What when it drops its kittens they wont be pets they will be feral. The mother will have more mouths to feed and will become dangerous.
The responsible thing to do is to get it shifted

    It's a cat not a tiger!

Yes let's not solve the problem. Let's just move it on!
Let somebody else deal with it!
What a very very good idea!

Feral cats are a menace and dangerous.
Yes move the problem on .Call the rspca and get it picked up.
Personally i would kill it myself but I accept that it is more humane to let the rspca do it.

Your the expert what would you do.

The RSPCA won't want to know - at least, they didn't when there was a cat who had kittens in a disused greenhouse at the end of my garden.

The Cat's Protection League were brilliant and an army of ladies arrived with food, trap, etc and took them all away to a better life AND mum was spayed too.

We did keep a little kitten for ourselves so there was a happy ending!
Do not allow the risk of failure to stop you trying!
  • I'm going to talk to the old boys relatives and contact http://www.cats.org.uk/contact/index.asp on Tuesday after the B/H. She looks pretty fat, hope she doesn't have them over the weekend.

Just rang a local stray rescue and they are dropping a trap this afternoon
Nothing to see here, move along.
  • That sounds great, well done ;)

..I'm sorry but I just can't understand your viewpoint at all
Why are you sorry? Don’t apologise to him. He appears to be rather heartless with no feelings for a fellow member of the animal kingdom.

That cat could be someone’s much loved lost pet. It could be an unfortunate stray that has been made homeless by a thoughtless owner.

Cats were domesticated by humans and would not naturally exist in their existing numbers without human interference. We have some responsibility for the protection and well being of the species and organisations such as the RSPCA and Cats Protection League are very experienced in dealing with stray or feral cats.

Well done CIB for caring. :)

    Shame on you Robby.

I'm not on robby's side here (I like cats) but he poses an
interesting question in one of his posts that no-one has answered.

If it was a pregnant rat on your doorstep would you still feed it?

I've ignored the pregnant rat question because to me cats are domesticated animals - we have domesticated them, Rats are not considered pets in the same way , so to me it is not applicabe to compare the two.

However that said I would not advocate the harming of any animal in any way and I believe we have a duty to help and care for other members of the animal kingdom. In fact pigeon's are considered vermin by many and I have had a pigeon in my garden that couldn't fly , caught it, called the RSPCA and they came for it the next day.

So if I say saw a rat that seemed ill or distressed in any way I would attempt to catch it and call the RSPCA so it could be cared for. I wouldn't be able to tell if it was pregnant as I don't know alot about rats!!!

It poses an interesting question as to what we see as being a pet though. I personally see rats as vermin, but some people keep them as pets!

Some people do... but even if you see certain type of animal as "vermin" would you hurt it ???

Surely it is wrong to inflict pain or suffering on any living creature, irrespective of whether you personally class it as a pet or not ???

As I have already said I would help the rat ... or indeed any creature if it needed help.

It is a an iteresting point you raise as to what we class as pets, but surely we should care for any animal irrespective of whether it is "vermin" or not ???
