Guaranteed Acceptance*

  • OP. I'd be amazed if they refused based upon your potential profitability when it was tagged as guaranteed acceptance. I would have expected the system to have already run through that assessment to give you the guaranteed offer. Sounds more like an ID fail, or a fraud prevention check that you need to get to the bottom of else you could be scuppered for credit generally.

Do you have a backup current account with another bank? Its possible that whatever scared them off issuing the CC could affect the current account as well with a Dear John letter coming soon.

I don't know where to suggest you look beyond your credit file, but I'm sure others will be able to advise.

Except your first reply to the OP.

I'll shut up. I've made my point. Perversely, if I had a question about credit cards, you would be one of the people whose reply I would most respect. Shame your method of delivery is more often than not delivered with a verbal smack in the face.

My CO used to talk down to us but it worked not sure he meant it but I always believe tough talk is sometimes the best method.

Anyway that's me done for while.

Thanks. I have acess to my credit report on line and everything is showing green.

I flagged it as a complaint to Santander so we'll see what their response is.
  • Complaint about what exactly?

They're not obliged to offer you a card if you dont meet their requirements.

And no, you weren't denied because you pay in full every month. Thats a myth.

If it's guaranteed acceptance, then there's definitely something on your credit report that scared Santander off.

Check CIFAS and GAIN. Also any late payments, defaults, ccj etc.

A complaint because their rejection letter made no reference to failing fraud and anti-money laundering checks, which is the only reason they said I could be rejected according to the offer they made when I logged into my bank account online.

If they want to decline me for some other reason then that's their prerogative, but they shouldn't make bold statements if you aren't going to stand by them.

As Bugsys location is/was Iran I assumed he was from that country and because of cultural differences this is why many of his posts may come over as offensive and bearing that in mind English would not be his first language. This is why I always try to make allowances for him.

It's very dangerous to assume anything. Have a look at some of the places other posters claim to come from !
