I don't usually post here, but dip in and out when I can, as I have been caring for my elderly parents. Dad has recently died and mum is very ill atm.
I had some time to myself yesterday as my sister took over for a couple of hours. I had an APG £10.08 to spend and a Reloaded coupon so I went to a bigger Asda about 5 miles from home.
I left the Asda store in tears and deeply upset.
At the checkout I handed over my 2 coupons to the assistant. She looked at the Reloaded coupon and accused me of photocopying it.
I explained that I was sent the coupon, by email, as I 'liked' a product on Face book.
She continued to accuse me of handing over a photo copy so I replied that I didn't need the Reloaded and asked if she could take it off my bill, which she did. I was calm and polite and smiley.
She then looked at the coupon from the Asda price promise web site and started to accuse me of faking or forging the coupon.
She called over another member of staff and I was frog marched to the customer service desk.
I was told that there was something wrong with the Asda coupon and that the manager had to be called.
By this time I was really embarrassed as everyone was looking at me.
I tried to explain that I had followed the instructions from the TV advert and that I had printed out the voucher that was sent.
There was a lot of fussing and muttering, loads of phone calls but the manager couldn't be found.Quite a few other members of staff had become involved.
I was being accused of altering the apg to increase its value.
I felt so upset of being accused of this ,that I emptied my pockets and shopping bags to prove that I hadn't stolen anything.
I felt so humiliated and upset I simply couldn't stop myself from crying.
Eventually a member of staff managed to contact someone at head office , by phone, and they were told that the Asda coupon was fine.
My shopping bill was retrieved, the Asda coupon used and the balance of the bill paid by cash.
Even though I was sobbing throughout the transaction there was no apology or explanation.
This event has completely spoilt my day. I can't believe that Asda staff can treat people like this.
I was publicly humiliated and embarrassed.
I emailed Asda head office when I got home but as yet haven't received a reply.
I have one more APG £8.xx to use but I don't think I will bother.

In your complaint to head office make a point of bringing up the phrase "Happy to help" and how you felt they did everything BUT help.
I know someone that works in Asda and apparently they are making quite a big thing of the "Happy to help" mantra, so if they hear a customer saying they have found them to be anything but help then they will take it very seriously.
It works, trust me
And make a point of using that other apg voucher, with the same SA if you see them, when you hand it over take your mobile out and say "Do I have to ring head office myself this time??" lolMissing Tesco R&R since Feb '07 :A & now a "Tesco veteran" apparently!0 -
Good morning all, travelling 400 miles north tomorrow to Central Scotland to buy a car. Also will be near an Asda and Tesco and wondering what non-perishable goods might be cheaper there than down in SE England.:D Will also check out non-supermarkets like Home Bargains we don't have down south where I now live, alas.:(
hi zagubov, you could have a look at the wine section in Asda
the small bottles are about £1 -£1.33 here to compensate for us not able to buy them as 4 for £5 etc. some of the full size wine is often £3.33, again because we can't get 3 for £10, silly laws that the supermarkets manage to work around by pricing individually lower, not complaining mind:Dmmm..... these strawberries make my breath happy mum ds
On a strand of pure silver, I'll welcome each day

Disappointed that my chocolate shop didn't work. Don't really want to give them as presents now as they didn't glitch and wouldn't know what to say to ask for refund, so as I have been staring at them all night I have finally given in and opened a box!
Nice your enjoying them hehe, but if you want to return them i always say like i got home and my dad or my OH had already brought them or they called and said not to buy any after i had or id phoned them to say i had then and they said they had already got them, works for things like chocs etc cos they are normally for present, i did it with 2x9 packs of loo roll the other day cos the voucher i had they would only put through at £1.49 so had to pay the £7.50 i just went to cs 5 mins later saying my dad had called and said he'd already grabbed some could i return it she was like no problem, i was like that's great cos id would have had no idea where to put it, (now if it was free I'm sure i find a space:rotfl:)OH said there was someone behind us on the other till trying to use the same vouchers and arguing the toss about the amount don't think they got anywhere either this was at a wigan store on like sat didn't find anymore shine sheets after that.0
