The rx/tx lights are just there for data transmission, the pairing procedure doesnt illuminate these lights.

please tell me you connected up some equipment and tried them out before sending them back?

I had already connected everything as I stated in the first post to test it.
They wouldn't pair no matter what I did, and did everything customer support said to do too.
They also wouldn't reset either which support said automatically proved they were faulty.

your first post just says it was connected to the router, i mean connect it fully into a system with a computer etc and try to use it rather than just looking at the lights

  • This may sound silly but are they plugged into the same circuit? I think these powerlines use the neutral lines in the wall to transfer the data and they need to be on the same circuit, not all plugs are on the one circuit.

p.s Hope your new powerline works for you.

Yeah, they need to be on the same ring main (i think it's called) or it won't work, obviously.

Oohh, yeah sorry I had it connected both ends and nothing was happening.

I had them in the mains right next to each other and they still wouldn't pair lol.

Why post about something that you obviously know nothing about?

Absolute rubbish, they will work between adjacent properties as long as both properties are on the same phase supply - nothing to do with "same circuit" or "same ring main"!

  • I'm sorry if I offended you, it was just something I heard, obviously from someone who didn't know what they was talking about.

Apologies to Espresso and the members I gave false information to.

I must have heard the same thing :S... I've never heard of the term ring main until I was learning about these things. Always happy to be corrected as long as the corrector is correct.

I have since done some more research and it seems that the myth of the ring main is because when switching from one to another it can drastically reduce performance... I wonder if older adaptors on slower speeds (Seeing as a lot of modern ones are 500mb to 1gbit) would slow down to being unusable, and so retail !!!-covering policy was to just say they wouldn't work to avoid angry customer returns.

Op, have you tried to use your home plugs, apologies of you have and they did not work. Its just that the debate seems fixated on the data lights or lack of them.
That gum you like is coming back in style.
