Going slightly off topic, but you can almost certainly have a sat dish in a conservation area, just not on the front elevation. And if it's listed and you cannot have a dish anywhere on the structure, you can still place it at or near ground level in the garden and link from there...why do people think that a sat dish has to be high up on the wall? All that is needed is a line of sight to the satellite.

LOL macman - We're slightly unusual in that we effectively have two 'front' elevations, it's a huge house that runs between two parallel streets. There is a garden at the 'real' front i.e. outside the main door for the postal address but I doubt there'd be a line of sight from it due to exceedingly tall trees (LL doesn't believe in pruning) and high walls. I know two previous tenants upstairs have looked into Sky and given up but I guess they would have been looking for TV and would have needed a dish for that.

Thank you so much Gordon, I understand your point but the purpose of asking here was to avoid doing exactly that. I'm currently forking out £50/month to BT and I'm skint and I want to move, I'm hoping to move but I've no idea when/ whether I will manage to move! It might be next month or next year or even 2015 if my son decides to move back to do A levels.

(I will be moving within the same exchange area, don't have any choice as my younger son has to attend the school named in his statement. I can't move him again.)

BT retentions assured me that I'm not paying over the odds and there's no way I can get it lower! But, even looking at their broadband page I can see that they could at least suggest that I could get it down to £26 plus line rental of £10.75 plus £5 for the anytime calls. I make that £41.

When he finally got around to asking me why I was leaving I explained about the problems I've had recently with them and magically a half price broadband price appeared (my usage is heavy so I do need an unlimited contract).

I'm sat waiting on the line for the technical department to see if we can get the HH2 working again - they claimed the problems I was having were with my laptop even though I pointed out that I was having exactly the same problem with the wii so logically that couldn't be the case - I'm currently using my old HH1.5 but can't access it to set up any security to control who's accessing it and I know upstairs is accessing my wifi.
