It's an even better bargain if you don't use Vista but instead ask for your money back.
See:
http://www.networkworld.com/news/2006/110706-dell-windows.htm
After all, who needs Vista when you can get a much better OS for free?
EDIT:
Unfortunately, as biglugs has pointed out, the above link has expired.
However the following links from ZDNet shpw the current state of play with regard to Dell. If you ask, you may well be able to get a refund for Vista.

And, of course, the more people ask, the more Dell will feel the need to respond to customers' freedom of choice.0 -
If anyone is intending to upgrade this system with a more powerful graphics card be careful you buy the right card! The Dell E520/1 systems use a BTX design motherboard which makes them very quiet, BUT the position of the PCI-E slot means there is no way to fit a double width card (which most of the Nvidia 8800s seem to be) and also the power supply may not be up to coping with the most advanced cards.
Just be sure when you order your graphics card that it isn't a double width one.
BTW - the link in Tobin_T_Cox's post doesn't work - says the page doesn't exist. You don't get medals for sitting in the trenches.0 -
is the offer still on?0

I received mine yesterday and I have to say I am very pleased. It runs very fast straight out of the box and the monitor is huge! Those people that are saying vista wont run well on 1GB of RAM are completely wrong as mine is fine. Applications run smoothly, Aero is great and does not cause the PC to slow down.
I also ordered 2GB of extra RAM from Ebuyer and after fitting it I noticed no big difference in speed so it is not a necessity.
Overall, I would recommend this to anybody. It is quiet, the monitor is huge and despite what people may say, I think Vista is a great improvement over XP
