But it's a van
Does what you asked for.

Same as Ford Fusion, it's a Transit Connect with windows but it has a big boot, loads of cubby holes. Three ful sized rear seats. Tons of head room and glass panels in the roof so really airy. Plus it's in budget.
Should expect it isn't going to rival a Lotus Elise in the handling stakes but you asked for ideas!
5t.What if there was no such thing as a rhetorical question?0 -
vw golf plus
my mate had no other option to get this as all other vehicles in price range not tall/big enough he is 6'7" and has a kid with booster seat in the back0 -
Try the Vauxhall Signum, the executive vectra
The two back seats give extra leg room and can move back and forward.
Get the diesel for great economy and reliability.0 -
Skoda Superb, such as this one I found which just fits your budget.

We had a CRV in the family for a bit, pretty agricultural and terrible fuel economy (but then it's a big, heavy car with only a 2 litre petrol) but it was a great car overall, even done ok on the odd occasion it ventured lightly offroad.
IIRC the rear bench moves backwards and forwards which may help - I don't remember it to be massive in the back though so it's worth checking one out. It also has quite a high floor though that won't affect the sprogs too much.0 -
Skoda Octavia or Superb.
There's a host of models at below 200k miles on Autotrader, and even then it should last another 300k!

VW Golf Plus, Seat Altea, Seat Toledo all have a raised driving position which gives loads of room for long legged folk.
I'm 6'4" and can sit behind myself, if you see what I mean.0 -

BMW 5 Series, ideally 525d or 530d depending on preference for economy/performance.
May be a couple of years older than other suggested vehicles (I'd guess 2004ish for £3k), but they're spacious front & back, absolutely sublime to drive, and very well screwed together.
I just serviced a 1999 528i that my cousin bought to run up and down the motorway once a week; he paid £950 and the amount of car he got for that is outrageous. Mechanically it's spot-on. It's got full leather, cruise control, climate control, reverse sensors, you name it, and it ALL WORKS. I just do not understand why people torture themselves with the likes of Kia & Vauxhall.0 -

Not all cheaper brands are that cheap, especially at the top end!
I paid £700 for a Scorpio that cost £22000 new, when it was 7.
My last Ford had a list of £38k. I didn't pay anything like that, and sold it at a year old for a £200 loss, but it proves the point.
