technical issue: santander esaver application form ARGH!

Options
hello everyone

i'm trying to apply for the Santander esaver (issue 7 at 2.8%) online.
this is for my wife actually; i already have an esaver with Santander.

the online application form should be easy, but:
when it comes to the employment details (they ask for that, for whatever reasons), i CANNOT ENTER THE ADDRESS.
once you enter house number and postcode and click on "lookup", the building number field goes blank again. and no matter what i enter there, every time i hit "next" it goes blank and i can't get to the next step.

it's driving me mad. i sent a secure message to santander, but tired of waiting :)

i found a way around it: if i just select "retired" or "unemployed" it doesn't ask for stupid employment details.
but then i'm lying to the bank... good idea?

No, don't tell them incorrect information.

I had problems with it too. It kept saying I was entering an incorrect mobile phone number, I wasn't, it was 100% right!

Ended up having to ring up and do it over the phone, not too much hassle, though.

Can't remember which number I used to ring them, but maybe try this one (I got from Say no to 0870) 020 8181 0000

definitely not a good idea, even if its only for a savings account.

wait for the response - you may need to visit a branch or do it over phone banking.

    thanks guys

tonyMMM: thought about that already. Chrome. then tried Firefox, but same issue.
i'm scared of using IE though, because it will take 5 minutes to load :)

0800-032-4601 is the dedicated line for new savings accounts. Obviously, the applicant needs to ring themselves..

Use Internet Explorer - I seem to remember I had the same problem with Firefox and Chrome.

OMG this sucks so much: the rate for this account has now dropped to 2.5%.
    !!!!!!...
not being able to apply online a couple of days ago, this is now the punishment i get on top of the technical issues.
    meh.

but i noticed they changed the online application form now, it looked completely different yesterday (and yesterday i swear they still had the 2.8% rate)

Almost certainly a browser compatibility problem ... I have seen quite a few sites (particularly banking ones) that only work 100% in IE.

Don't understand the "5 mins to load" comment ..... Santander site works perfectly well in IE for me (although I use Chrome for most things).

5 mins was an exaggeration. even IE isn't THAT bad :)
