Broadband without landline

I am moving into a house in London in ten days. I believe it has had a BT connection in the past (the white sockets are around the house) but it is certainly no longer connected.
I will be sharing with two others, but neither has a computer, so it is just me who wants to use the internet.
My question relates to the cheapest way to get the internet from this position. Ideally I'd like 512Kb broadband, but can live with dial up. My postcode will be SE3 9DE. Is there any way to get access to the net economically, perhaps without paying for a BT line rental?
Can I get NTL for £17.99 pcm, without any further charges, perhaps? Is there a cheaper way?

If you'll all got mobiles and won't use the line as a phone, it seems a bit of a waste. Can you arrange any wireless connection share with a neighbour?0

Would seem from the postcode that you posted that you can get NTL for £17.99. If as you say - dial up is ok - you're still talking £10.50 to BT and a fiver or so a month for unltd access. You might have to pay a reconnection fee as well - unlikely if BT equipmt is in the house. Seems NTL would be the best option .0

Thanks guys! Think you've come to the same conclusion as me. Will be going for the NTL 1MB service @ £17.99pcm.
