Yes you re right Jalexa, its usually the meter readers who end up snapping the flimsy triangular plastic latch ( it is in my case ). i did one today, but replaced it in less than a minute. But if the box doe nt shut properly the lid flaps itself of his hinges in the wind and breaks them also and is v.difficult to repair and expensive. The fault of very weak gas box latches is even more common now. All the new builds have got very cheap Chinese boxes, some are broken before anyones actually moved in. The electric boxes are much better for some reason0
