We're booked with Virgin last week in July first week in Aug 2013. Filghts were just over £900 each. Thats Manchester to Orlando Int.

I would do all you can to not go in August.

It will rain a lot, storms, incredibly humid, risk of hurricanes, and long queues with higher flight prices.

Ive been to Florida at many times in the year, and once went in August. Never again! :)

I've just booked an indirect flight with United from Heathrow to Miami for 9th August. Out via Washington DC, back via Houston. £505 return with Expedia. Delighted with that price.

This will be our 5th trip to Orlando, each time we've been in school holidays. Sometimes July, sometimes August.

In all the times we've been, we've only had 2 days where the rain has prevented us from going anywhere. We're always prepared for the risk of really heavy showers and don't mind the queues really. The humidity is bearable, you just need to make sure you keep hydrated and take breaks, especially if you have kids with you. Mind you, the humidity never bothers mine ! Different people cope in different ways. I wouldn't put anyone off going in August, but will agree that there are cheaper times to go.

OP, have you snagged the cheap flights for next July and August? Starting at £406 per person, indirect, Delta and United. kayak or Skyscanner will find the deals for you.

    I said you'd get them for under £550 :D

Madness paying more, you just have to be patient. I'm paying £1740 for my family of four (adults). I'm very happy with that.
