If you put people on ignore, does that mean that they can't see anything that *you* post? Or does it just mean that you can't see their posts?

they can still see what you post just not the other way roundReplies to posts are always welcome, If I have made a mistake in the post, I am human, tell me nicely and it will be corrected. If your reply cannot be nice, has an underlying issue, or you believe that you are God, please post in another forum. Thank you0

Oh well what is the point of that?If someone is on your ignore list, wouldn't it be a better idea if they cannot see anything you post? There are a few people here, that I would rather not have any kind of communication with. And I would prefer that the trolls cannot read my posts? Is there anyway to stop them?

This is an open forum, posters are allowed to express their views. Just because they do not agree with your line of thinking does not make them a"troll".
So what is the point of putting a "troll on ignore why not have an open discussion, where others can join in.
You never know you might actually win one now and again/.0 -
In case perhaps you haven't already noticed it, you've got the PM Private Message facility, if you want to chat with some bods in private. It's similar to email and you've got an inbox and a sent box. Maybe that might be useful for you.
If anyone is rude to you or about what you say you can report them as well and reports are generally acted on within a few hours or days. But don't expect instant action, unless it's something drastic that lots of people have reported, as it's a big forum and they're very busy.0 -

Curse them, that they may be struck down by blindness.:beer:0 -
The 'ignore' function on an internet website is there as a back-up (or replacement) for an individual's own ability to choose not to read messages posted by others.
Many posters manage to 'ignore' messages without needing any kind of technological back-up. And without announcing that they're 'ignoring' anyone.
If you only want to share your thoughts with certain chosen individuals, it's probably not advisable to post those thoughts on the internet.0 -
I agree with the replies - especially the ones that made me laugh (curse him, he might go blind :rotfl:).
You have the right to control what affects you, but not to do that arbitrarily for someone else. Suppose I post about a competition or freebie that I found, and decide that I don't want Fred Bloggs to see it. Nobody else will post about it, because it's already there. So Fred will miss out just because I didn't want him to see it.
Even those who lose their posting privileges here can still read and make use of the site info. It's an excellent ethos of this site.I am brave, I am bruised
I am who I'm meant to be
I'm not scared to be seen
I make no apology
THIS IS ME!
When you talk down to others it says more about you than them.0 -
