council rent rip off

i live in the north east of england, and just received new rent card with the usual increases, nothing unexpected there then:eek:
but back in feb i received a letter from them about the increases and a print ou of what the rent will be ....based on 53 weeks as there is 53 mondays next year:mad: well... when i worked my rent out on a 51 week the council ( as it turns out) are charging an extra 5p per week i know its nothing but work it out at approx 2 n half quid a year on thousands of homes hmmmmm:mad:

they apparently dont divide the rent like we would but they use a multiplier:confused: (what i was told:rolleyes: )hence the extra 5p chrge per week but apparently it all goes back into the council revenue and then we all will see the benefits of it:rotfl: :rotfl:

god i think we pay enough....

has any one else noticed this

I think Council house rents are very reasonable compared to the private rented sector.

What does the OP expect, how about the council pay him to live there?!!

I think if don't like a £2.50 raise then you should move out into private accommodation and pay a heck of a lot more. Vote with your feet!

what i'm trying to say is that the council are trying to hide the fact that they are letting us think we are paying less than what we are!! .. i'm not complaining about the rent going up!!!!!!!!!!!! they say all this hidden money so to speak just comes back into the council revenue:rolleyes: and then comes back to us:rotfl: when?????????????/:mad:

i'm not trying to compare to peoples mortgages or private sector
and yeah i wouldnt mind the council paying me to live here:rotfl: :rotfl:

There are 53 Mondays in the relevant financial year - so what is the problem?

Perhaps your council have edited the year to trick you?!!

There may be 53 Mondays this year, but what about next year?

When you join the real world, that is where working people pay far more and actually sort themselves out rather than rely on the council, you will see that any comment you make (the OP) is laughable.

It's made even more funny if you drink or smoke. I'll wait for someone to ask before I go into the reasons why.
