Had an mot in April they had to change the cat because oil was leaking on to it and making the fumes dirty, at the mo I'm haing to top up the oil by 2 litres every 4/5/6 weeks because th light keeps comig on.
There's obviously still a leak but I'm a bit scared to take the car bak to the garage and confront them about this,
They obviously haven't done the job properly.
Is there some kind of warranty on this kind of job?
Any advice appreciated!

The cat itself can't leak oil, to have damaged the cat it must be an internal (engine) oil leak which then polluted the cat.
It sounds like you paid them to replace the cat, which wouldn't fix the leak, that's another issue.0 -
They supposedly fixed the leak at the same time.yes that's what it is oil dripping on to the catADVISE-"I advise you get help"

Dripping onto as in on the outer case wont hurt it. Wash it off sorted.
Dripping onto the internal surface can cause it to lose its efficiency.
Did they do an emissions check before replacing it? And one after to prove
it actually made a difference?Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
Yes they did do an emissions check that's the only thing it needed to pass,so they replaced the cat and supposedly fixed the leak and it passed the emissions test.ADVISE-"I advise you get help"

I dont get the fact you had an oil leak 1st? Dripping into the ground?
How did this find its way into the engine / CAT?
Or is the engine burning the oil and it needs a new engine not a new CAT?Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
My step dad seems tho think the engine is burning the oil as there is no oil patches on the floor and I'm needing to replace the oil very few weeks.
How long to you think the car will last?is it fixable?ADVISE-"I advise you get help"

It will last as long as you keep the oil topped up, And as long as it passes the MOT and doesnt leave clouds of smoke behind you.
Ive run old BL cars where you checked the oil before every journey.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
