  • listen we dont know whats ahead of us regarding people starving. i read yesterday that in spain people are starving and they are appealing to their fellow country men to help feed those in need. with all these cuts in benefits and if foodprices soar and fuel rises etc, i really fear for the poor and working poor of our society. Stock up where you can afford. I agree with Aldis and Lidls becoming more popular and unfortunately its being reflected in the prices.

And a lot of people make sure they can budget for their fags and cheap lager and LED TV etc, etc, etc...

Of course some are like this but the majority are not and how often do you buy a tv? Once?

A lot of assumptions are made, some items may have been purchased whilst it was possible and if on a low budget, watching tv may be the only entertainment that can be afforded. How much does it cost to go to a pub, a cinema, a gym etc...lots of things are out of the reach for many. Within reason I'm not sure that I begrudge some the pleasure of a smoke or an odd drink.

I think I agree with you. We are on a tight budget, don't smoke or drink, but my odd treat is chocolate or a sweetie of some sort. True I don't NEED it, but it makes life a little bit more fun! We also have the odd chippy tea out, DS loves the treat of it, but it isn't too often these days.

At present I have managed an odd theatre show but I think they will soon come to an end and if I cannot afford to keep the internet going my sole way to get entertainment will be a radio. I like my own company and I like radio but I bet it won't be long before I go stir crazy...

I may get a laugh tonight as I am seeing Ken Dodd! It will probably be warmer there too...Still have to come home to an empty house though and if he finishes at a reasonable time probably will have to wait up to an hour for a bus to get home...

Enjoy it, despite the down-sides, hope your laughter lasts with you for the wait for the bus and takes you home warm :).

The point is some of the people who whinge the most about poverty are the ones who have the latest iphones, ipads, tellys, always have a fag, and eat loads of takeaways and have branded clothing. They get no sympathy IMO.

People on here, having the odd treat are a totally different kettle of fish.
