Iphone can't call out/send messages or receive messages

Phone was working fine up until yesterday, now today I can use the internet services over the wifi connection but calls fail and messages fail.

I hadn't updated to ios6 so I did that to see if it fixed it but no still the same.

I have disconnected and reconnected to carrier.

And when I link up to itunes to restore to factory settings it says click restore but when I do it says it is downloading ios6.

Help!!! Please.

Should have said I am with Orange on contract.

As you have already upgraded to iOS6 I would back up your phone using iTunes and then try restore (even if it says downloading iOS6).

Am doing that now, about 20 minutes to go.

All done, restored and synced but still no service.

Hubby has identical phone and no problems.

Try going into Settings > General > Reset >Reset Network Settings

Done that still the same.

Will have to wait until hubby gets home and ring orange, don't want to pay for using the landline when I can call for free on his phone.

Hi floflo,
Probably stupid, but have you tired turning it off then trying again. I'm with orange and have just bought the new iPhone 5 and was having problems with my new SIM card and the change to this EE service. I turned it on and off a few times and seems to be working ok for now.
