Lovefilm vs Netflix on a PS3

Hi there!

I just bought a new PS3 (though i had one 6 months ago) and i wanted to ask whether which streaming service is better between Lovefilm & Netflix?

I am on Sky Broadband Unlimited but my speed is a very slow 2MB. IS it worth getting such service? Which one offers an "HD" versions of their contents? And which one has generally have more content and an easy to use/understand interface and settings?

Please advice.

As they both offer a month free trial you might aswell join both. Then try both for free for a month and then cancel the one you dont like before the 30 days.
  • Netflix wins. Lovefilm is terrible quality with nowhere as near as much choice as netflix.

Most people will have both and use netflix for streaming and lovefilm for discs.

Also netflix streams hd, lovefilm doesn't.
  • I have only tried Love Film and I have to say I found it to be a waste of time. There wasn't enough content for my liking. On a side note I think it would be great if they allowed you to download the games and rent them for a week or two.

Intresting, all the reviews i've read comparing these says lovefilm has a better choice of movies and netflix doesn't have many recent releases
with the op's connection speed, seems like they are unlikely to be able to stream hd anyway....

op, try the free trials and then decide

I have taken a Lovefilm free trial. It was good. Its definitely wise to try them and then make a decision. Good Luck!

Why? Sky Anytime+ HD works on 2Mbit.

lovefilm (on my computer anyway) says it needs 3mbps and netflix 5 for hd quality:

edit: lovefilm says it needs 4 http://www.lovefilm.com/help/dyn_faqs.html?faq_cat=watch_online&editorial_id=46426

Thats because Sky do not stream video OD, its downloaded to the HDD in the box, it would probably work at 56Kbps if you were prepared to wait.
That gum you like is coming back in style.

Neither are particularly good for new release movies bit rather than reading 'reviews' it is best to actually try yourself.
