Hi I have a friend who goes into a local pub with wifi, the landlord says he can use it but the landlord doesn't know the wireless key for the router as he had it installed a few years ago and he doesnt use wireless

    the landlord can login to the router using a cable, and find the key

    he could use BT and if you do not know what BT is please do not ask or how to use it
    there or their,one day i might us the right one ,until then tuff

  • I am in the process of researching BT now. hopefully this will be sorted.

    Depending on the router, it "may" be on a label on the router.

    Plug an ethernet cable in the router and your laptop.

    Run 'cmd', then 'ipconfig' on the laprop and check the gateway ip address

    Put the gateway ip address into Internet Explorer address bar

    See if you can guess the user pass: admin/password usually or find a list of defaults for the router online.

    Change the key in settings.

    Done.

    on your router you probably can find something like :

    admin: 192.168.0.1 or admin: 192.168.1.1
    login : *****

    try to type it in your browser and log it in with thse settings first.do not forget to connect ethernet cable. if there are still default settings, then you might be able to check pass...or simply reset your router and job done:]
