Oooh, just forgot, I found £1 in Tesco carpark on Sunday. I know that was technically September, but I didn't remember to add it then, and I've just dug it out the bottom of my bag to put in the pot, so I'm counting it today :D

I've collected all my change up in a jar, but was wondering if anyone knows if banks still accept change given in in money bags? Be nice to have all these 1p, 2p & 5p's changed over to add to my monthly savings

As long as the bags are full as they should be (£1 in coppers) £5 in 5ps etc - should say on the front of the money bag - then as far as I know, they all should accept them.

  • Yes banks still accept them - or mine did very recently but like Nat says there is a 5 bag limit, I had 10 so just went to two different branches (as suggested by the bank cashier ;))
  • Another noob to add to the pile. Please add me on for £5 a day - running out of things to ebay....

Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent".
  • Thanks nat21luv, Monkeynut & Nicky Noo Na :) For some reason I thought they'd stopped doing it but found some money bags now so going to take them this afternoon.. Was thinking about how else you can save money and realised I was staring at a massive jar of change in front of me :D

£15 from Halifax Rewards and £8.38 from ebay :)

I bring my loose change (bagged!) to the post office. They cant give me notes for it (!), but can lodge it into my account for me.

Today was the day I called to organise starting a JSA claim (forms to be here by start of next week) and ending my tax credits. Ill still be childminding until Halloween at a measly 4-8 hours a week, after which Ill not be needed as the kids will be in school fulltime.

Organising my finances for the month (I consider myself to be pretty on top of them) has not felt as lovely as it usually does when Im forecasting a full wage even though I knew this day was coming. But Ive had a wee cry and now Im thinking, hey - its just another challenge, right?! <tightens belt another notch>

Will continue to apply for any jobs remotely suitable and hopefully being a fully licenced driver by end of the month will help me look a little further afield for a job.

    Morning.

Please put me down for £ 5 a day. Hoping for more as I'm finding things tough at the moment ;very much like many others too.

I've dipped in n out of this thread and, I so need to be more committed but for varius reasons I've fallen off the wagon.

I've made a bit of a start with 1p roadkill and an ebay sale which netted me 80p after all fees etc. Really gutted on that as I underestimated postage ! you live n learn.

    Good luck everyone.

    Karen.

Keep going Karen:T You will get there. We all have times like you are having at the moment.

Ebay can be a pain but at least its 80p you didn't have.
This has happened to us all. I did the same last week and I have a feeback of over 3000. I had postage as a large letter turned out I had to send it package at £2.20 so made a loss.

We learn from it and try not to do the same again.

    All the best Karen:)
