Hi all, I've decided to start a thread based on the popular £10 a day challenges. I plan to spend the next few days planning ways of making extra income and sharing ideas on here and starting the challenge on monday.

I'm planning on making £10 on average per day. This means that on some days I will make little, on others I may make more. By the 1st of January 2013 I plan to have made £850 in additional income.

I will keep a log of my money making ideas and whether I am meeting my targets or not. Ideas so far include:

    1) selling surplus possessions on eBay
    2) purchasing things at car boot sales and online to sell on
    3) busking on a weekend
    4) using savings on my weekly spending budget to add to the pot. For example, using money I would have spent on going out for a coffee to go into the challenge pot.
    5) looking for matched betting opportunities that I haven't already used up.
    6) looking for online earning opportunities (surveys etc). Not had much luck with these but may look into the, again.
    7) making and 'upcycling' furniture in a rustic or chubby chic style.

If anyone has other ideas they'd like to share, that would be wonderful! I hope this thread will help to maintain my motivation and discipline!

    Thanks,

    Paul.

You been moved to the right place TheChallenger! :D

    Hi everyone.

£10 gift card through the post from tesco after finding cardboard in my food. That totals £15 gift cards and a full refund of the 4 pack even though only one (worth about 32p) was affected. Nice one Tesco.

I got 56.37 from ebay today but they also deducted my fees of £34.39 so Im sitting at £119.85 on day 5.

My "ebay room" now has more stuff unlisted that it has listed so all free time next week will be dedicated to getting it all sorted, though first Im gonna box up the summer-y stuff and put it on top of the wardrobe til the spring so I can make room on the Listed side of the room. This weekend Ill be continuing to sort through my stuff to see what else can go. :)

Daughter has been tasked to count the piggy bank money tomorrow (its improving her maths skills.... ;)) and ill add that in too.

    Keep it up everyone!

Seems to be quite a fruitful start to the month for lots of people this month - keep seeing lots of Ebay earnings going on. Must be the big pre-Christmas motivational sort out (it's October now so the C word is just about allowed).

Which reminds me I need to add £14.75 Ebay profits from the 2 parcels sent today. Undercharged on 1 lot of postage (Grrr) but I trust their scales more than my little kitchen ones, and I did know it was tight (not that I realised how tight till after they'd sold, they were only baby muslin cloths - didn't think they could weigh that much, but there was lots I suppose!).
Oh well, I usually overcharge the actual postage a little bit to allow for packaging, but other than a bit of tape every now and then it doesn't cost me anything really as it's all reused (had a mattress delivered wrapped in nice thick plastic a while back, and another for my sons toddler bed) and I use that!

And - sneaky Ebay packaging trick, which works well for clothes etc that can just be wrapped in plastic, rather than buying mailing bags/brown paper etc - I've been known to order things before, purely to take this packaging, then return the item. Tesco Direct is a good one for me as it's really convenient to collect when I'm shopping, leave in the boot of the car and return when I pop in for milk etc a few days later :o Can return the same day, I just don't want to keep doing that so go for different staff! Often get big throws and blankets because they just come in the plastic rather than a box.

Okay, now I've written it I've realised how tight and probably a bit stupid it sounds :o:o:o I did it by accident the first couple of times, as it was things I had genuinely changed my mind about (clothes ordered from the sale on New Look website come in the right packaging too). But the nice thicker plastic for packaging gets expensive otherwise.

  • I'm finally off the mark with 20p road kill. It's not much but I figure you have to start somewhere!

I have sold a few bits on ebay so I'll add that when the money's cleared and is in the bank. I think once the fees have been paid I'll have about £60 to add. I've got loads more stuff to sell so I'm going to try and list a few more things next week when I've got a bit more time.

I did start doing surveys a while ago so I started again yesterday. I only need a few more points for a £10 amazon voucher so I think I could probably get that this month.

Also managed to hit my target on swagbucks yesterday but I'm not sure how often I'll do that. It seems to take a long time to get anywhere!

So, not much towards my total yet but hopefully lots to add over the next few days.

£12 hit the bank today from the free £2 Coral gave me, and a few quick spins on roulette later turned into £12 :D

Hope everyone has a lovely weekend, despite the grizzly weather. I think I may need to invest in a good umbrella. A very wind proof one judging by the weather last night :(

A better one is to buy Andrex Quilted 4pk for £2, generates a till spit for free Kleenex face shine wipes things but the voucher is worth £2.99 and the face wipes are 74p/£1.49 depending on store. The remainder of the voucher gets taken off your shopping :D the face wipes generate their own voucher so off you go again....:D
