  • I'd like to join in (late) if that's allowed, but I am not hopeful of making £10 a day. Can I put myself down to £5?

    I do the following things:
    eBay
    Surveys

And I have some CDs I can put on Music Magpie.

I have tried clicking but it takes too long above my normal working hours, so usually falls by the wayside.

I will try really hard to make this money up!

And £15 from MSing popped into the bank this morning too, which was super quick :)

Hi monkeynut do you have an idiots guide to selling on Facebook?
    Any help would be appreciated.

I've just switched boiler and central heating cover from British gas £318.62 to £169 with Scottish power 12 months for the price of 10. This will save me around £12.46 per month. Can't add until Novembers thread though as I've paid up until the end of the month- just thought I would share incase anyone else was up for renewal x

Umm, well I am a bit of an idiot, so I can see why I'd be a good person to ask :D

To be honest, I find it really hit and miss. I tend to sell things on there that I wouldn't bother with on Ebay because once you take into account P&P charges, I don't think people would bother to buy it as it wouldn't be worth it, and as I don't drive, and wouldn't trust OH on his own selling at a bootfair, I use Facebook in a similar way to a bootfair!

Try and upload things that are similar that someone might want so whereas if it's something little that they want but wouldn't be worth getting to you, or the hassle of arranging a time etc, but if there was a few bits they wanted, then it's more worthwhile. I know from things I've bought on Facebook, unless they are only a 10 minute walk away or I'll be passing anyway sort of thing, there's things I might have bought at a bootfair etc if they were right there in front of me, but I wouldn't bother on Facebook. (Similar with Ebay I guess where it's good to list similar items together - clothes the same size etc - and make a point of offering combined p&p to make the overall cost more worthwhile).

My local groups seem to be people wanting something for next to nothing a lot of the time.
I'm selling baby clothes at the moment, which have been here for ages waiting to be sorted out, and all the nicer bits and outfits etc have been sold on Ebay for what I think are good prices, so I'm happier to charge a bit less for what's left on Facebook, so I've had loads of things little t-shirts, vests etc for 25p or 50p, but they soon add up.

I've sold a couple of new or as new toys lately, as I think people are getting them in for Christmas presents.

Adults clothes are hit and miss, household things tend to do quite well. Umm, don't know really.
There's times I put something on and think it will go really quickly, and there's no interest for ages. My main local group has about 5,500 people, though obviously I don't know how many people look at it regularly.

Oh and IRON clothes before taking the pictures. For Ebay this is even more important as I think people tend to expect more. But it just makes things look much better condition and more well looked after.

  • Can I just butt in to ask about facebook selling too?? (sorry!)

Do people private message you or are the comments there for everyone to see about people wanting an item/ haggling down the cost etc?

I'm thinking of trying to sell a couple of larger items this weekend so may be going for facebook as local people willing to collect will be looking. I'm not sure how much to ask for the items so am thinking of going for 'any/all offers considered' and just wondering if the potential 'customers' can see each others 'bids'.

And lastly, what do you do about giving people your address, presumably you don't announce it the whole group??

Thanks very much for any advice
  • Just requested my first ever £25 amazon voucher from swagbucks :D. (I've always stuck with the £5 vouchers before) Think I should make enough for another one over the month which would be cool, had a really good few weeks so have been really racking up the points.

Two of my marvel DVDs have sold on ebay (I have the shiny blu-ray boxset now, again thanks to SB so I'm getting some pennies from the DVDs). Ending today so I will add it up when I have the money in my account and no how much the postage was ;).

I tend to count money when I actually receive it, otherwise I get confused :o

You can do whatever works best for you though :)
