DH has a samsung galaxy y . His 1st ever smart phone. I think he's finding now he's actually using the " smart" bit as well as the "phone" it's limited in it's capabilities (of course, its a kids phone at £80 really).
I'm an unashamed phone geek and use my note loads. It does lots for me- for work and leisure.
He doesn't think he "needs " a high end smart phone. But is now realizing he should upgrade - running out of onboard memory (for things that wont run from a card) is a real bind as is the poor camera etc. Iplayer would be good, as would the ability to use a memory stick type function.
Showed him an S2 in store and he felt that was way too big. Something galaxy Ace /iphone 4 sized would be his dream.
What is there out there that would do what he wants but be small enough ?
Ace2 seemed a possibility, but I note it's gingerbread with no signs of ICS upgrade so presumably relatively soon unsupported?
Thanks

The galaxy ace 2 is on the list confirmed for Jelly bean, basically the phone will be skipping ICS completely and will go straight to Jelly bean.

Will G300 do it:
4" Gorilla Glass, 1 Ghz, 5 mp Camera with flash
On Ginger bread out of the box but can be upgraded to ICSsillygoose wrote: »Right, put aside isme, it looks like a better deal on very.co.uk (sister site) for the same deal method.
Phone is £99 delivery is free to a shop near you using collect+ service (isme do the same service)
Topcashback are offering 8.08% back for the next 4 days.
99 (-8.08%) = £91
code 2AVKQ is for £30 off for a new account spend over £60 (if you open a credit account)
£91 - 30 = £61 net!
Going for it.When will the "Edit" and "Quote" button get fixed on the mobile web interface?0 -
If he wants a phone that performs well the Galaxy Ace 2 is a good option... Windows Phone handsets like the Lumia 710, HTC Mozart and Lumia 610 are designed to work well with low hardware specs so the cost stays down.0

Actually the G300 is same size as an iphone 5 and the op wanted smallish? Orange San Fransisco II is a good buy at £100 and a fairly compact, get it unlocked, there are sites around to upgrade the software if you wanted but not neccesary for the use you mention.

OSF was smaller indeed.0 -
Sounds like something like the Xperia Mini or the Xperia Mini Pro would be a perfect fit.
Mini, Mini Pro0 -
OSF2 is slightly bigger than G300 in fact.
OSF was smaller indeed.
You right OSF was indeed smaller, but OSF II is still a bit smaller than G300, although as the point your making the OSFII may not be small enough for the op
OSF II - 117 x 58.5 x 10.6 mm
G300 - 122.5 x 63 x 10.5 mmEuropean for 3 weeks in August, the rest of the year only British and proud.0 -

I'm looking at the Lumia 800 and the price appears to have crashed over the last few days, presumably due to the new phones coming out late Oct.
At Carphone Warehouse it is still £379 SIM only but elsewhere is is now from £149-£169 depending on the store. So you may find a few bargains if the Windows software is something you like.
