Evening everyone,
Feel like I haven't posted for ages. RL getting in the way, but glad to report I have been keeping up with my purses!
Current totals:
2nd purse - £97.55
3rd purse - £18.88
Stock total - £184.70
I'm going to the farm shop tomorrow to buy some meat with 2nd purse. If I end up with a balance in that purse of over £50 I will transfer into 3rd purse.
Hope you are all doing well.

Hi everyone,
We have been living off meagre rations for ages as we have NO money since my hubbys business went under in this nightmare recession. With 2 kids and 3 adults to feed its not been fun and OH is always complaining about the lack of food in the house.
I do my weekly shop in Aldi, but its crept up from about £50 to £70/£80 per week due to price rises and having to buy baby milk and nappies. I was often wandering around shops seeing these good offers midweek and kicking myself as my weekly money had run out and was always wondering how I could take advantage of the offers.
Now this is a brilliant and so obvious an idea why did I not think of it!?
I started 2 days ago I managed to get £35 for my second purse from some saved money ( which is a bank moneybag at the moment) not sure I've got my head totally around it but I did two flyby stops in tescos.
Got yellow label turkey mince
2 big portions of mince meat and a chicken 3 for 2 for £8.25
Coke cans half price as a treat
2 for 1 on cereal my hubby likes to eat
3 for 2 on sausages we love
2x half price cleaning fluid
2x half price butter
I've spent £26.40, saved £16.18 and my stock is worth £42.58
I've got a freezer full of meat which I find really expensive usually. I don't know how much I will be able to pay back from my weekly shop, probably not much yet, but I love the concept.
Am I doing ok what do you think?
Thanks so much for the great idea, love it!!!Second Purse Challenge

Hi, I too have read through the thread and am trying to put the concept into action. I already have some stocks as I have a Costco card and buy some things in bulk. I am now trying to get enough money together to start off my second purse. Can't afford to put anything in out of this months groceries money as only two weeks in I have about £15 left. So for now I have done what someone else said they were doing and put a £1 away for each item I have taken from stock. This I hope should give me some money to start my second purse with so that I can buy more. I have no idea what my stock value is at the moment or what anything cost so this seems to be the best way and when I have a bit to start with, then I can maybe start to write things down and keep a proper record. Thanks for the ideas. Esther xSecond purse £101/100

Hi alibo100 and EstherH - great to have you on board!
It sounds like you both have plans to start small, and that is exactly how it should be. You will soon get the hang of the concept and be able to put more money away, but even £5 a month is a start.
Do you want to name your shops - if so let me know and I'll add you to the front page.
It's Friday and my weekly update for my 2nd purse:
This week I bought some meat from the farm shop, but I also used £23.40 of stock. Current totals are:
2nd purse: £39.42
3rd purse: £26.04
Stock value: £223.80
Not too shabby

Hi Coxy, thanks so much!
What do you mean name your shop? Please put my name up there I am saving to pay off some debts
By the way, how do I put my totals in my profile like eveyone else?
I have noticed that there is loads of half price items in Tesco at the moment, is that usual as I don't normally shop there?
Stocked up on color catcher, branston baked beans, and azera coffee all half price!Second Purse Challenge
