Hello Jayme: I tried to install live mail but apparently I need to install the whole of Windows Essentials (or am I missing something??)... However, the site tells me I need to install Pack 2 and Windows Platform Update first.... is that so? I am a bit reluctant to install more than I actually need...
Many thanks in advance!
it should give you a 'Custom' option where you can just select the programs you want to install, if you have other programs that are part of Live Essentials (eg Live Messenger) then those would be updated at the same time.
As for the updates, you haven't used Windows Update in a while have you?
You need to run Windows Update and install all the updates it suggest (esp the important ones), they are essential not only because it will give Vista the necessary components to install Live Mail but also because there must be hundreds of essential security updates you probably don't have yet.0 -
Thanks Jayme... been away from laptop for a few days... will start by updating windows I think. I am always scared of updates since sometimes they mess up my system but will follow your sound advice. And no, Windows essentials did not give me the "custom" option...0

Hi again Jayme... just checked on updates and I have a lot installed (automatically I presume) until recently. If I check on "windows update" they are offering me to install a "malicious software tool". Nothing about pack 2.0

Again, I tried to install Pack 2 and the recommended procedure is to set your windows update on "automatic".... but it was already on "automatically download etc etc". So why does "essentials" tell me I need to install it? I'm confused...0
