  • @ pgilc1 and sb You're both right I was a bit harsh on dealers in general wasn't I. For that I apologise (especially to sb who openly admitted to "rubbing his hands with glee at auctions" years ago). I don't trust dealers and trust very few mechanics too. I've been there done that..

Anyway my point remains that you should treat all dealers with caution. There are good and there are bad but you can't really 'trust' any of them unless you know them from previous dealings, past experience etc. Bottom line is never trust any dealer because they just want to sell you the car regardless of their company success, car legitimacy etc. You have to safeguard yourself and your purchase - HPI check any car before buying.

I've looked at a few cars with dealers and always walked away. I'd rather buy privately, inspect the car, ask the questions, kick the tyres and get an idea of the sellers personailty. If they seem legit and the answers are all good I'll buy it.

I only once bought a car that I knew could be iffy.. I didn't get to see any pics of it online (the bloke hadn't got a digital camera), he had no idea about the service history and it only came with one key. I was desperate for a car so bought it blind with a good offer of cash - he snatched my arm off! Ironically when I got there I found it was a car I'd avoided on ebay previously due to the above but I bought it anyway due to the travelling time and because i'd researched this make / model and wanted it for the reliability. Only when I got home did I HPI check it (rather dumb I know) and it was clear. I've still got it now, most reliable car I've had despite the lack of attention and servicing.
  • Thank for the replies guys

I will contact finance company and will see what they say. If they decide to take the car away ,I am not sure if i can claim the money from my credit card company or will have to speak to a solicitor.
