Christmas. It's 25th December this year

Just in case you've forgotten.

If you haven't already begun, start saving now.

That way you won't need an overdraft, payday loan, personal loan or credit card debt to pay for the festive season.

Then the lenders make no money out of you and you earn a bit of interest back.

Just a thought.

Good advice but no doubt it will unfortunately fall upon many deaf ears as usual.
I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.

Is it just on the 25th December this year? Thing is, it seems to spring up on me from out of nowhere. I can never remember which day it's on and before I know it, I've spent over £1K with credit cards and payday loans on useless tat that nobody wants or needs.

    :p

Although the word "saving" is almost considered swearing on this board LOL
  • Amazingly enough Christmas is also going to be on 25th December in 2013 and 2014 as well! What a coincidence!

When I was a kid, my mum would save as much as she could for us to have a great Christmas, but if she didn't have the money, she would just say, she couldn't afford many presents.

Unfortunately so many people, instead of saying, sorry I couldn't afford much/anything, they just borrow to get presents. We even see people, getting loans to buy presents for babies who wouldn't even know it's Christmas.

Mind you there is so much pressure on people to keep up with the joneses at Christmas time and kids do expect so much nowadays, it can't be easy for parents who are short of money all year around.
