what can i get

when i was on income support i got milk tokens. not sure if any rules have changed but i got a babies and children leaflet (produced by the government) in my pregnancy bounty pack and it mentioned tokens then, so they are still available.
i just read ted's link, the green one (it's a PDF file so you need acrobat to open it). if you have a child under 5 you can get the tokens and also free vitamins. if your income support goes into your bank account the tokens will be posted to you but if you get your money from the post office they'll give you the tokens there. they need to be stamped if you want powdered milk. you can get 4 litres/7 pints of liquid milk from a shop or milkman (you could get one a day from the milkman i think) or a tin of baby milk from a baby clinic if your child is under 12 months. it says if you choose organic milk etc. you'll have to pay extra. it can only be whole or semi skimmed cow's milk, not soya, goats milk etc.
i hope that helps. as far as i know the only help you might get with a fridge/freezer is a budgeting loan, you ask for a loan to buy something essential such as a bed, carpet, fridge etc. then they take the money out of your benefit every week. these loans are interest free, i think over around 26 weeks.52% tight0 -

Well, I can't do that on a Sunday, can I? Can any of you check what you're writing on a Bank Holiday weekend?
All any of us can do is to write what we believe to be true. The responsibility has got to be on the person concerned to find out facts for themselves.

I agree with Fran I am afraid Aunty Margaret.. When you say you work for CAB and give advice it will be construed as correct. If everyone wanted to go down the road of going and finding out the "facts" then this site would not exist. The purpose of it is to give advice without leaving home! Most posts are obviously a personal opinion and often include phrases advising that the advice is personal or may need checking. Yours was written as fact. Also while I am not at work, if I was unsure of a fact I would not post it as a reply or if I did I would say I needed to check the facts for certaintyI have had brain surgery - sorry if I am a little confused sometimes0
