Natwest has lost my ISA money

Hello!
I opened an ISA at Natwest on Friday (after wasting time at Barclays two days earlier, not having any faith whatsoever that they would bank my cheque I stopped it and reading the threads on the Barclays ISA I'm so glad I did). Funds transferred from my Natwest current account on 3rd April (so far so good). However, I checked the online service tonight and my £3000 had disappeared from the ISA account, having been transferred out today. I didn't know the account number until I checked the site this evening and haven't authorised any transactions. I called Natwest who seemed to find this rather amusing, determined that the transfer had been made by the branch but they do not know why, or, more importantly, where my money has gone. Because it's a bank holiday tomorrow I have to wait until Saturday to find out. I'm livid!
Has this happened to anyone else?

not personally, but I've be livid too  Make sure you make suitable noise when you call them saturday/tuesday, demend your missed interest and a compensation payment for the aggro.
Also get a full report on where the money went, so you know some cashier didnt go and buy 428 Easter eggs.

Thanks Liz - I will do! I'm furious about the money going awol but even more angry about the woman on the phone laughing about it! I am going to have some serious fun with my complaint letter to Natwest!0 -
Yes - I've had similar problems on 2 consec years with Halifax. Where funds in a newly opened ISA have suddenly gone AWOL for several days - then mysteriously re-appeared, after a couple of calls.
I think it's something to do with opening ISAs for OH and myself using funds from a joint account. Halifax say that shouldn't be a problem - but it mysteriously works OK when funded from individual accounts.
I'm taking it the ISA is 06-07 - and NatWest don't suddenly think they've been a bit premature with an 07-08 ISA?If you want to test the depth of the water .........don't use both feet !0 -

Thanks so much for the tip Mike - I logged onto Natwest this morning and found that the money had turned up in another ISA, but when I phoned Natwest they said that the transfer had been out of the 06/07 ISA and into an 07/08 ISA (which I didn't ask to open). Usage of the phrase "You mean some PRAT has transferred my money out of my 06/07 ISA?!!" saw that I was quickly put through to a Customer Care Adviser who is going to sort it out PDQ....0
