I was thinking about this thread again.
Of course you will be charged since your excess waiver policy is with a third party (not unreasonable of Sixt), I think you have highlighted the danger of third part policies ie you are out of pocket whilst the opposing sides fight it out.0 -
Did you arrange this policy yourself or was it sold by sixt at the time of the hire ?i took out excess waiver insurance with a separate company and need to submit a claim to them . the problem being that neither myself or them know how much exactly im claiming for until sixt give me a partial refund .
sixt in the meantime have charged me the maximum excess0 -
Ask to see the receipt from the bodyshop and before and after pictures, or the car once it's been repaired.
I don't have any experience with Sixt NI, but a lot of hire companies won't bother having the vehicle repaired, they'll just sell it on.
It might get them in enough of a cluster**** to say don't worry about it.Yes it's overwhelming, but what else can we do?
Get jobs in offices and wake up for the morning commute?0 -
I still don't quite understand, and bear in mind I don't know how these excess policies work, but surely you just pass the entire excess claim back to your company and let them deal with it. If it later gets resolved than that's dealt with between the various insurance companies.i took out excess waiver insurance with a separate company and need to submit a claim to them . the problem being that neither myself or them know how much exactly im claiming for until sixt give me a partial refund .

Isn't that what you pay the excess waiver insurance for?0 -
i've been trying unsucessfully for 3 weeks to get insurance details from the person who hit us so my claim hasn't been submitted yet .
im going to have to send the claim in and let the insures chase up the details required .
thanks to everyone for their input0 -
ridiculous. A spare rear bumper is common as muck and you can find them in breakers everywhere. It's the front bumper that's harder to find because it's a front end damage which ususally results in a write off.
(That's assuming that your car is 5+ years old and is a FWD though. The opposite applies for a RWD vehicle)
What is the excess for? Is it the car hire excess and policy claim excess combined? I would have thought being rear ended means you're probably not a fault. So you shouldn't need to pay out.0 -
it's just the standard car hire excess that sixt charge regardless of how minor the damage0
