Debt Consolidation

Yep, you should not be taking any responsibility for this, they are grown adults that should be able to manage themselves.
I commend your efforts but seriously, they are abdicating far too much and you'll probably get some blame when this inevitably goes wrong (which it looks like it will from the SOA).Thinking critically since 1996....0 -
They could complete the on-line Debt Remedy on the CCCS (free debt advice) website. It can be completed on line, and anonymously and will provide them with a report and a recommended course of action - it is then up to them whether they choose to go with that advice or not.
The solution to their predicament may be a DMP or IVA and neither of those options would mean losing their home. However, it would mean siginificant cutbacks and a big reality check.
However, they need to take this forward now. Just stress to them that they should seek advice from non-fee charging organisations such as CAB, National Debtline, CCCS or Payplan.....and then take a step back and let them decide how to move forward.Allypops

I can't get over how they are happy to give so much private information to a friend rather than sort the problen for themselves. I suspect they will end up resenting how much you know about them. But the key point is what tlh858 said - they are increasing their debt by £400 a month and they won't even switch radiators off because their very good friend is going to shuffle their money about and work a miracle. Just tell them that you were a bit out of your depth and asked for advice and show them this thread. It might be a real eye-opener to see how other people see their debt and attitude to it - especially if you show them some DFW threads about what people have done to tackle their own situations.0

They have the Unlimited evening & weekend plan costing £48.27, Friends & family mobile £4.65, calling features £9.45 & £5.67 processing fee.
Thats about 580 a year spent on a landline i presume. Do they actually make use of the F&F family mobile, whats the call features ? is it 1 of them devices that tells you who is calling.0 -

Well indeed. I apologise if I am wide of the mark, but I can't help but surmise from the insanely detailed amount of knowledge given (including plastering 'friend' debt on your signature) and tasks undertaken for her (i.e. applying for loans for someone else, really?) that the 'friend' is, in reality, the OP herself.“In any moment of decision the best thing you can do is the right thing, the next best thing is the wrong thing, and the worst thing you can do is nothing at all.” - Roosevelt0 -

I think you are saying what everyone else has been thinking since page 1.0 -

I don't think they will resent how much I know about them because the type of person I am is one that will take secrets to the grave because it is their business and therefore not mine to tell. As I have previously pointed out no one knows me on here and therefore they cannot identify this couple.
They know I have asked for help on their behalf on here, they knew before it was posted on here.0 -

They do use the F&F mobile. She has previously asked BT to remove the call feature as they no longer use it. She said she is going to call them again and ask for it to be removed and for their package to be changed to the Anythime plan as this is what I advised her to do because of the price of local calls during the day on the most recent bill was more than the price of this package.0 -

The friend's debt in my signature is a different friend. The friend in my signature told the friend who I am currently trying to help that I had helped them out of so much debt so this friend thought I could do the same for them. If you had read any of my previous posts you would know that I have no children were as this friend has 6! I do think I would have noticed if I had been pregnant never mind give birth to 6 children! Also I have no debt so I don't know how I could have accumulated all this debt.
BTW if you had taken the time to read any of my previous posts/threads I started that I am normally attempting to help someone else because I never know when I might need their help and any way I always thought that friends were supposed to help each other out!?!0 -
