I was in Aldi today and bought some excellent insulating foam tape, I have put some all round our lounge door. I was having an issue that the lounge was heating up to 21 degrees no issue either with a quick blast on the central heating or with the multifuel stove lit, but the hallway stays at about 18, so I feel a draught from the hall, purely down to temp difference. So, literally 10 mins and its done, no more draught and the heating has stayed off :T
Used less than half a roll and cost £2.69. Off to get more tomorrow to do the back door and kitchen door.CC limits £26000
Long term CC debt £0
Total low rate loan debt £3000
Almost debt free feeling, priceless.
Ex money nightmare, learnt from my mistakes and never going back there again, in control of my finances for the first time in my adult life and it feels amazing.0 -

Great tip! We also have the same problem, we are decorating the hall next week so will be off to buy some tape for all the internal doorsDont wait for your boat to come in 'Swim out and meet the bloody thing'0 -
I'd split it into two loads, with man made fibres in one, and natural fibres (cotton, cotton mixes) in another. Other wise you'd be spending money moving the man made fibres around and keeping them warm while still drying the natural fibres. Also the looser the airer is packed, the more the air circulates (at least in my 8kg dryer it does, although I rarely use it)
I always split it into two lots this way as well. Saves it getting all crushed and creased too, which saves on the ironing time.
Apart from hating ironing with a passion, I was also staggered to find out how much electric an iron uses, about 8-10p an hour, fancy paying that much for pure torture.
I think it's much more money saving to ignore the ironing.0 -

Thanks rosalie-lavender and twiz21. I hadn't of thought of looking at what John Lewis has to offer. I was thinking of running in the garage, hopefully that would be ok. I'm now tempted to try and order one.

This might be a stupid question but have you checked that the water cpntainer is slotted in properly? I speak from experience after I didn't put ours back in properly, the water trickled down the back straight into the carpet! I'd have expected some water to have collected by now, esp if you've had a bath
I've checked and its in properly. The thing is its blowing out cold air and making the room noticeably cooler. That wasn't the idea of buying this one, it was meant to enable me to heat the house for less not moreThe only thing the book says is "make sure the filters are clean" well I have, and they are, and its still not collecting water despite it being 60-70% humidity according to the dehumidifier itself

I've had a look around the 'net this morning and it appears that the dehumidifier is faulty. Something to do with the coils needing to be replaced. So I'm returning it to Amazon for a refund and will just invest in another one from somewhere else where its brand new  Oh well, just means we'll have to do without until after my refund clears now.Creeping back in for accountability after falling off the wagon in 2016.Need to get back to old style in modern ways, watching the pennies and getting stuff done!0

Oh no, what a pain. Can amazon not replace rather than refund so you dont have to be without?0 -
The prices you have quoted for heating oil were the prices we paid in Greece for it last year...this year it has gone up to 1.60 euros a litre. Most people can't afford to pay that so the government have reduced the tax...its now 1.45 and still no one can afford it. We are all buying olive wood logs for 100 euros a ton delivered. Will be using the electric blanket upstairs and the calor gas fire if it gets really cold. The idea was for the government to add all the tax to gain more money....but no one has the money to buy the fuel now. I noticed the thermals and warm jumpers were best sellers at Lidl this week on the offers.
The storms have now stopped and its 26 and sunny again.....and looks set to stay that way for the weekend. Great stuff...“The superior man, when resting in safety, does not forget that danger may come. When in a state of security he does not forget the possibility of ruin.” Confucius (551 BC - 479 BC):A0
