Yeah, another warm blooded person here!

My living room generally sits between 18-20 degrees and I hate my bedroom being warmer than 15 degrees. If anyone I live with gets cold (which they often do) they have to go and layer up rather than put the heating on :o

that's exactly how it is here though i keep the lounge / kitchen at 17-18 if i have it higher now that i've gotten used to it at that temp again (my annual autumnal adjustment!) i start to feel like i'm overheating! thankfully my daughter loves wearing layers so she doesn't complain about it, though she's not that keen on the cooler bedrooms but it's better for ones health to sleep at 15-16C then higher temps anyway and even if she won't admit it i know she too doesn't sleep well if it's too hot so now i make her a hot water bottle to snuggle up with before bed and she isn't too grumpy anymore

in the morning i give her clothes to put under her covers with her to warm up as she's waking up and i make sure she takes her slippers upstairs to bed if she isn't already wearing them. i find that about 30 min of morning routine will raise the house temp by about 1.5-2C so unless it's less than 15C in here i won't turn the heat on though i may put something in the oven to bake and eat later that day ;)

I don't have the radiator on in our room but fortunately DH also likes the room cold but when he wants a little bit of warmth he switches his electric blanket on. I love nothing more than moving in bed and feeling a freezing cold pillow against my face, I think I might be a little bit odd? :o

ooh no not at all, i rather like the feeling of cool sheets, it's almost as nice as slipping into clean sheets and drifting off for a summers nap :p

    Thanks for the reply bluebag.
The problem would be to fix it in place. The inglenook is part of a stone wall/slate hearth & flagged floor so it would be very hard (practically impossible without resorting to drilling things in) to tie the duvet up in a way which would stop it blowing out into the room or sucking back into the fireplace.

My parents had the same problem in their last house. My Mum got a convex shaped fire guard and put an old duvet over it. This fitted perfectly into the space.

im back! after having my baby last year and increasing my energy bill by 30% (i think thats what happens when you have a newborn in the middle of winter!) he is now 10 months old and we are desperately trying to stay warm during the day. No heating on yet but it's hard!
I have just won a rug on e3bay as we have laminate throughout and the bubba is getting so cold sitting, crawling and walking on the cold floor. My mum is treating me to a new 13 tog duvet and the spare is going on the sofa. MIL treated LO to a snowsuit and during the day unless we need to go out he is in sleepsuit with vest and socks underneath and a fleece on top.
I cannot seem to find any slippers to fit him though! he is a 3.5H in clarks sizes and as his feet are so wide i cant seem to get wellies or slippers :/ wellies arent important as he is only just walking but slippers are a must, any suggestions?
ive been drinking a lot of tea but i just worry LO isn't staying warm. Right now he is fine at night, his baby monitor says the room is 18 which is perfect but for the heart of winter im not sure what to do as we dont normally keep the heating on over night.
He has a 2.5 tog sleeping bag in velvety feel and some fleece sleepsuits.
I have no idea about this kind of thing and any info is gratefully received.
Everything is always better after a cup of tea

The original Grobag grobags used to come with a thermometer which told you how many layers to add with each tog of grobag so baby didn't over heat or get too cold. The thing to remember is that in a grobag they can't get too cold as they can't kick the covers off....can you google and see if you can find it? Or try ebay? If not someone on here may be able to tell you, my youngest is 5 now so I'm a bit rusty!!! Certainly, I remember that if the temp in the room was 15, you could put baby in a babygro, plus pjs in the 2.5 tog grobag and they would be fine xx

Just to add, I have typed 'grobag thermometer' into ebay and it's not the digital ones I meant, but there is one multi coloured card one which if you click on you can read the guidance for x

There is something almost comforting about it, my youngest DD complained today that the house was freezing as I had left my bedroom door open :rotfl:

I actually look forward to going to bed as I know it's going to be cold. The bedroom windows have been open today and the room is at 13 degrees so going to be lovely when I head upstairs :D

I can't stand being hot, it the worst feeling in the world

For what it's worth, I like warm sheets but a cold pillow......on the rare occasions DH goes to bed before me I have trained him to lie diagonally to warm up my side of the bed, but NOT my pillow!!!
